Okay for everyone who does not live in a cold climate pretend you are going to visit one (heck come to my house if you like) and then you get trapped in a blizzard.
Now go write a story about what happens. Just because you aren't getting snow at your home doesn't mean it isn't snowing somewhere in the world. That's what your imagination is for isn't it?
And thanks, Ri, I actually did have a creative moment while writing that but it's probably because this is my favorite contest subject ever. I might consider writing one for this myself. I might even make it a Family Story but we'll see how things go. I'm already working on three other stories right now.

You know last year one person was actually selling jars of snow on Ebay. I don't know how she expected it to stay frozen through the mail but she honest to god sold a ton of the stuff. Some woman in Colorado. I remember thinking how absurd it seemed. Of course we had some of our own here so I didn't want any.

lol... Thats, well, that's interesting M.
I lived in Wyoming for six years, but I cannot remember what snow is like... Other than that one time it was like four feet high and I tripped. I was like six in my snow-suit... I bet I was cute... Anyways, I live in MISSISSIPPI! If I enter I'll have to remember what it's like... Man... Oh well. I'll think about it.

I have a question!
Are we talking, like, disaster-flick-type-blizzard, or does the blizzard not have to be the main plot point of the story?

As long as there is a blizzard taking place at the time of the fic and in the place where the fic takes place, it's fine.
It can be a fic about someone playing board games because they are snowed in if you want. Just as long as there is a blizzard happening.
