She watched intently as the blood poured into the tea and for a moment let her mind get lost in utter fascination at the sight. The colors blending and swirling, making the tea a slightly darker shade. She had to admit it was very beautiful, but she also knew she needed to draw her attention away from the sight. And for more reasons than just trying not to be rude.
Oh she knew she seemed rude, only interested in what he could give her, and she really did not like it when others thought of her in that way. But there was also the propensity to get lost inside her own mind. To forget the world and everything around her. She had been known to do that too often. But it wasn’t a safe thing to do out in the open. In her own home it was fine. There was no one there who could harm her or take advantage of her inattention. Oh, she didn’t worry about him harming her in any way, but there were others out there that would if they discovered what she was.
So she pulled her gaze up to try to meet his, as the blood flow stopped, and for but a brief moment she caught a glimpse of something. What, she was not quite sure. He probably hadn’t even noticed she saw it, but there was something very horrible reflected in his eyes. Something that sent shivers down her spine. She watched as he pulled his legs up and donned his hood again and for some reason her desire for the blood waned.
She glanced down to the cup and wrapped both hands around it feeling her fangs retreating back into her jaw. She would drink the blood in a moment she decided, but she needed first to know what that look had meant. “Is something troubling you?”

Ark remained very still, carefully calculating the dozens upon dozens of possible responses he could utter while taking note that she still had the ability to hold off on her bloodlust; fascinating.
"No, something isn't bothering me, everything is bothering me." Ark drawled out, his voice low and his eyes awash with distant emotion. "Absolutely everything is wrong in this city, and with all my experience I feel like a fool for expecting any different. I'm not supposed to feel regret or sorrow, pain or joy: I'm just supposed to exist, to sit back and watch the world burn, but I cannot." He added further, taking a sip from his still steaming hot tea, seeming to relax a bit.
"I don't want this power, I never did, but I have it now; I need to learn to own my decisions and do what needs to be done, and tonight I needed to act, so I offered myself to you as a resource, and now I know what to ask in return." Ark stated a little more resolutely, like a business meeting.
"A curse as old as I will befall this city tonight, spreading madness like a plague across its streets and rooftops, infecting all of those who do evil in this wretched place. There will be chaos on a scale that terrifies me down to my core, and yet I must remain; I must find a cure for this madness in order to help revive this city's heart, you, however, will have to deal with this even more than I: Can you kill those who are not in control of their actions if they threaten to harm another, Atavus? I pray you have that skill, vampire, for you may need all of your gifts before this is through. Beyond tonight, I cannot be certain of anyone's fate, but we shall see when the dawn comes, we'll see what lies ahead."

His words sent shivers down a body that she didn’t think could become any colder. She shook her head slightly trying to deny what he said. “No, you must be wrong…” But she knew in her heart that he did not lie. She would have heard it in his voice. “You aren’t, are you?”
“You must realize that I’m not fully prepared for what you ask, right? I may be a killer, but that doesn’t mean I enjoy it, and that doesn’t mean that I don’t avoid it at all costs.” She had the sudden urge to flee but felt as if her feet were rooted to the ground. She couldn’t just leave. She couldn’t walk away from everything as if she didn’t know the horror that would soon befall this city. She hated the city, she hated the hypocrites that abounded in masses, but it was still her city. It was her home.
“I don’t have a choice. Not because you tell me what I need to do, and not because it’s even the right thing to do, even if that does play into my decision. Because if I don’t everything that I’ve achieved will be worth nothing, won’t it? I well as go out into the dessert, strip myself bare, and let the sun bake me till I’m nothing but ash and bone.” Her words were bitter, and she couldn’t hold back the contempt she felt. She hadn’t asked for the world to suddenly try to end over night, but she’d have to do something about it whether she wanted to or not.
But something else was plaguing her mind about what he’d said. “But you say that this curse affects those that do evil. You have to admit that some would consider you and I to be evil. I’m pretty positive that this thing won’t affect you, but what about me? Am I going to go stark raving mad? Is it gonna be you forced to put me down?”

Ark chuckled, disgusted by his vague amusement at her fear. "Actually I am very vulnerable to this curse: I'm mentally unstable as it is, if you haven't noticed. I will recover within a few hours but if infected you'll have me running about bat-sh*t crazy for a while." He stated in a sing song voice, wrapping his white sleeves around himself in a humorous mock of a straight jacket.
"I'm not sure actually though." Ark continued. "My already present insanity may insulate me from further mental incapacitation. You however, are another unknown; I am unsure of the effects this would have on a vampire. I'd generally like to avoid killing you, the questionable morality of measuring the worth of one life compared to another comes into play. Just as you bloodlust has consequences if left unchecked, mine has momentous effects as well." He rambled slightly, warmth slowly returning to his form.
"This curse is the city's punishment for its cumulative deeds; even those pure of heart will be effected because they continue to live amongst evil; these things are unjust, but this is how they are. Prepare for a long night, Miss Atavus, and pray that when the dawn comes we do not see it through the smoke and ruins of fallen buildings." He finished, sipping his tea again.
"This tea is marvelous!"

She swallowed through the lump forming in her throat and tried to put on a bright smile, though it was done with great effort. “Well in that case I guess we shall just see what comes to pass”
“I mean if your brain cells are already as scrambled as you say they are, I might not even know the difference if you are affected. But then again, what could I do against you if you were?” She did have those special binders that she used for her bounties and they were supposed to be able to suppress any being. Yeah, but did the manufacturers take into account the existence of gods? Probably not!
“And me, well whether I am evil or not I have no idea how I might be affected by this curse, so again we shall see. But if worse comes to worse and you are forced to deal with a crazed vampire, please if at all possible could you try to bind me instead of killing me until it’s over? Not that I mind removing evil from the world but I seriously think it might ruin my plans for the weekend.” With that she picked up her own teacup and downed a large swallow of the substance. Hmmm, he was right. The taste was a little on the spicy side. Not unpleasant or overbearing either. Maybe she could get used to their little arrangement, well if they both lasted the night.

Ark watched Atavus with a dark intensity over the cup of tea he cradled so gently in his hands. "I believe I've made it clear that bloodshed is my last possible resort."
It seemed, if for a moment, his visage grew more bestial before reverting back to its soft and childlike appearance. "My goal is simply to prevent as much loss of life as I can. The residents of this city are mostly gifted enough to take care of themselves in relation to each other; I can't prevent all damage, but such is life: sacrifice." he concluded, setting down his tea for a moment and rummaging through his bag, withdrawing his hand to reveal a small clear vial.
"I personally carry anesthetic and neurotoxin, but this will work better against me; concentrated essence of mint, actually. The sense of smell is the best trigger of memory, so my penchant for the stuff may be able to subdue me. If not, I suggest you do a lot of running; I'll assuredly be right on your heels."
Ark was vaguely disturbed by the possibility of losing control again. He didn't mind not being in control of his actions so long as he gave up that responsibility willingly, but his desire for violence often sent shivers down his spine, as he had not yet learned to coexist peacefully with it.
His revelry was interrupted, however, by the vibrations of a distant explosion as fire flew upwards into the sky over the city. "Oh could I have at least finished my tea?!" Ark moaned before sighing. "If you'll be wanting to go home and restock, I suggest we do that now; this is going to spread quickly, so don't let anyone touch you."

She glanced around as the foundation below them began to shake. Ah, what a night this was going to be. She reached out and grasped the vial, pocketing it, hoping she wouldn’t need it, and then thought of something herself. She pulled out the binders she always kept hidden. “These wouldn’t be enough to hold you but they should work on me, just in case. Well that is if you can get them on me in the first place.”
She knew if she did go over the edge it wouldn’t be the easiest thing to trap her but she had to have faith that he of all people could figure it out. “I don’t really need anything from home myself,” she answered patting the katana blade hidden under her coat. “But if you’d like to peruse any of my weapons or equipment I’d gladly show it to you.” She wasn’t exactly sure how he preferred to fight but she’d certainly provide anything he might need for their protection.
