Haha. Well, in the book, Dustfinger is described to have hair "reaching to his shoulders," and the beard stubble is "ginger colored". They make the scars more glamorous looking in the movie, because the description about them is he looks like "He'd had his face smashed and put back together." That isn't to say he's disfigured, but you definitely couldn't miss him.
But yeah, Paul Bettany will be very good as Dustfinger. He likes to do a lot of different things. He's cool.

The character vaguely reminds me of somebody (another character, perhaps), but I just can't place who. Certainly sounds like one that would stand out in a crowd, though. And I agree about Paul Bettany. I sometimes think he does the unusual, perhaps unconventional characters even better than the more realistic (for lack of a better word) ones.

Yeah. I watched Firewall last night, and he's in it; he did remarkably well. You contrast his character there against him playing Chaucer in A Knight's Tale, and you're kind of surprised they're the same people. He is a very talented actor.
And along the lines of Dustfinger, being totally honest when I first read the book, I had pictured him to look similar to Puddleglum, the Marshwiggle, from the 6th Narnia book (The Silver Chair). Meaning to say that I imagined Dustfinger to be very "glum" looking, and his features were most definitely out of the ordinary, being a slightly froglike. xD Just really pale skin, the stress he has definitely showing and making his features look strained. Stuff like that. Of course, when I read Inkheart the first time, I was a lot younger and my imagination, while definitely crazy, wasn't as "disciplined" or what have you. I'm rereading some books now from a few years ago, and imagining things a lot differently, a lot clearer.
Anyway. And by the way, New Line Cinema, and the producer from LoTR worked on Inkheart. Isn't that great? I'm very excited for it.

Yay, I loved Firewall The gal that played Harrison Ford's...secretary, I think... is one of my favorite characters on 24. And yeah, it's totally trippy to think he's the same guy that plays Geoff. Or Stephen Maturin from Master & Commander. My goodness, I think Puddlegum is exactly who I was thinking of! Though a more dramatic version, as I always thought of Puddlegum as being somewhat silly looking. That's pretty funny that you mentioned him. I didn't know New Line did the movie, that's very cool. I heard they came to terms with Peter Jackson and they're going to move forward with The Hobbit (and a sequel, apparently). But that's off-topic. Shutting up.

lol. That's hilarious that you might have been thinking of dear Puddleglum. Like minds, I guess, and suggestive imagery. xD
I think we should make a thread for Paul Bettany. We'd talk it up there no problem.

Yep, great minds. A Paul Bettany thread would be brilliant! Yay!
