"A mind is a terrible thing to taste." I don't remember what book that's from. Darn it I'm on a streak of not knowing.

"A mind is a terrible thing..." and I can't remember if it ends in "never use it" or "never waste it" but I believe it's from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...I can't remember. But your quote, Wyve, made me think of it.

The original, not the one with *brain fart* Johnny Depp in it (as much as I love him, the original Chocolate Factory is always going to be special to me)...I got the titles mixed up...the original is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory...I could have sworn it was the other way around.
"Oh, you should never, never doubt what nobody is sure about." Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
"Where is fancy bred, in the heart or in the head?" Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
"We are the music makers... and we are the dreamers of dreams." Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) Willy Wonka and the Choclate Factory
"Now don't get excited. Don't lose your head, Augustus. We wouldn't want anybody to lose that." Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
That movie has a lot of excellent dialog.

Doesn't the original have the line, "So much time, so little to do! Wait, strike that, reverse it." Or something to that effect. Gene Wilder was on Will & Grace for a time and he used that quote, it was a riot.
I'm a CatCF fan, the original gave me the creeps for some reason. I think the scene with Charlie and his grandfather and the burping was what I disliked the most, and since they cut it out of remake I liked it more. Plus, Freddie Highmore. Adorable.

OH I loved all of it! I enjoyed being scared wittless of Gene Wilder, he was a creepy man! I was most scared by the ompalumpas and where he did that summersault in the begining!
I love the seen where they were burping! As they were trying not to be hacked to pieces by the fan! I was petrified!

"So much time, so little to do. Strike that, reverse it." is the exact quote.
I LOVE the original. I grew up on it. We watched it just about as often as "Wizard of Oz" when we were younger. Gene Wilder doing the summersault always made me laugh and I loved the ommpa lumpas from the original. I used to be able to sing all of the songs.
For some reason Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka freaked me out...
I think part of the reason that I love the original so much is that I, personally, think Gene Wilder is an excellent actor, at least in the movies I've seen him in.
