Too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.

Slowly does the candle burn. The seasons come and go But Autumn always feels longer And Winter never seems to come.
Eyes that don’t know a white winter See only the colors of fire Like the flickering candle Burning itself into oblivion.
A vast sea of flame Succumbs to the winds of Time Leaving behind the charred remains Of an invisible Winter.
Autumn leaves ride on the wind Fluttering to the ground Bathing the land in an ocean of fiery color And covering the ashes of what never was.
Some things never do change. Just another forgotten season. Just another...
West Coast Winter. This is actually part of the opening to one of my more private stories. The name West Coast Winter was inspired from a Jack's Mannequin song (The Lights and Buzz) and the poem and story were inspired from a personal experience. It still stings, but when I'm ready I will release the story which is called (surprise!) West Coast Winter. This was a very early project, but seeing as to how it is weather related, I decided to submit it and see how I do. Enjoy!

I like it very much. You've done a truly wonderful job, although I'm a yankee, so I wouldn't know how it is. Beautiful poem though.

*Nods with Mage* True. It's hard to imagine anything but the crisp winter air and the white grounds of winter.
I love the imagry though. Fall is one of my favorite seasons but I can imagine it like something that has gone on too long. Very nice.

Thanks to both of you. ;D
This is what you get when you put together a good song line, teenage drama, and my favorite season. I'm in Cali, so the winters here aren't white. I'm not familiar with snow and have only seen it a few times in my life (not including TV and pictures). The winters here are just like a colder and gloomier autumn.

Well I'm completely envious because Autumn is my favorite season and my perfect world would consist of fall-like weather year-round Anyway, I love your entry! It's got a certain something that I can't explain, but definitely admire. Very nicely done.

Wow... that was really, really good! I enjoyed it very much and I can feel it too! I live down south and have only seen snow in person about three times, even then it wasn't much, so I can really relate! And trust me, Idril, you wouldn't like our winters! lol!
Anyway, very good job!

Oh, how beautiful! I picture this poem narrating during a child's memories. Very nice; autumn is a wonderfully poetic season.
Favorite lines: Autumn leaves ride on the wind Fluttering to the ground Bathing the land in an ocean of fiery color And covering the ashes of what never was.
Well done.
