i think i'm breaking... 11.07.07
She walks slowly as if she’s trying not to drop something (like a lonesome, suicidal tear) because she’s afraid she might b r e a k
So she blinks a lot to keep them locked behind glass eyes. the wells of bitten-back tears pool in her palms. she closes her fist on them because she’s afraid she might b r e a k
So she stares out the classroom window (during her favorite subject) so that it appears that her only problem is disinterest because she’s afraid she might b r e a k
So she smiles like the princess she pretends.to.be (but if you look deep enough, you can see that her eyes are really dead inside) because she’s afraid she might b r e a k
So she says she’s fine when they ask and eventually their concerns will fade (like they were ever genuine in the first place) because maybe, if she says it, it will really be true
And then she stills her pointless trek her cautious eyes and hidden sighs, her close-the-curtain smiles, her blatant denials that no one can see because she (finally) realizes she’s already BROKEN.

Beautiful. It has a tragic sort of feeling to it. One thing I can never stand about society is how we all assume we know everyone else's mind like our own; we sometimes forget that everyone is different and everyone has a secret or some sort.
Wonderful job with this one.

Agreed. Sometimes people will sound cliché, and other people write the person off as another "emo" or just "teenage angst." Well, as it so happens, I am neither of the above. I was just feeling depressed -- I was trying to ignore it, deny it, etc., etc., etc. So maybe the topic sounds cliché, but the emotions have never been felt in exactly the same way by anyone else. Because even in the same situations, people think differently and feel differently.

Cool. I wonder if it is jsut as effective with 'b r e a k' as just 'break' on the previous line?
