The weight of what he did burdened him heavily. For unknown amounts of time, Ender drifted back and forth between consciousness. Outside his door, he could hear shoot and gunshots but his mind could care less. As he fell into unconsciousness again, images of terrible creatures and gory images filled his mind. Unknown to himself, Ender was tossing and turning in his bed.
Finally, the shooting noises stopped. Slowly, Ender opened his eyes but nothing could be seen; the room was pitch black. A blackout must have occurred as a result of the fighting.
Suddenly, there were footsteps walking to Ender's door. The door slowly slide open but the lights in the hallway were out as well. In the darkness, Ender could only see the silhouette of a person advancing toward him cautiously. Ender laid still on his bed and pretended to still be asleep.
As the figure approached, it reached out its hand to touch Ender. Instantly, Ender darted out his arm and grasped the figures hand. With one strong heave, Ender pulled the figure toward him and into a headlock. He tightened his hold even more when the figure began struggling about.
"It's me, Ender!" the figure suddenly shouted hoarsely, unable to breath because of Ender's tight hold.
"Alai!" Ender responded, instantly loosening his hold.
"Are you trying to kill me?" Alai said though there was no real accusation in his voice.
"I've just been a little off," Ender admitted
"A little?" a female voice interjected. "You've been asleep for three days!"
"Nice to see you care, Petra," said Ender.
"Don't forget about me," a different male voice said.
"Of course not, Bean."
"And me," a voice Ender recognized to be Shen, said.
Suddenly, the lights flickered on, bathing the room with pale yellow light. Ender blinked a few times and finally saw the faces of his friends again. Overwhelmed with a mix of sadness and joy, he embraced the closest person, which happened to be Petra, in a big hug. Tears rolled slowly down his cheeks.
"I've missed you guys," Ender said.
Everyone in the room nodded in agreement and embraced each other. The war was finally over.
"So," Alai began after the hugging was over, "now that the war is over, what do you think they'll make us do now?"
"Knowing them, it'll probably be back to school," Petra said disdainfully.
"Eww," everyone in the room said in unison.

It was almost time to leave and yet Ender was still stuck in his room while all his friends were at the waiting platform already. Graff had said told Ender he was going to take his own private ship back to Earth in secret as to not draw so much attention. But somehow Ender doubted he would go back to Earth at all. He angrily punched the pillow on his bed. I've already beat your stupid war, Ender thought to himself, now let me go. The last thing Ender wanted to do was stay on this asteroid forever. And yet he seemed trapped like a bird in a cage. Mazer had managed to lock his room from the outside and there were no other exits. The only other hole was a vent in the ceiling but that was part of the ceiling and impossible to remove. Sighing in frustration, Ender stretched out on his bed.
As he stared at the blank ceiling, a knock on the door suddenly jolted him to alertness.
