I hope this is where I can put my fan fiction. If it isn't... Oops....
This is my first one... Don't be too harsh. *wince*
Samantha Spade watched as Jack sat in his office. After the case she had just solved, she felt it necessary to enjoy what she had, before it was to disperse, like that of 15-year-old Miley Carson. Old memories arose of her and Jack, so sudden the agent was amazed at herself. Jack had Ann, and he really liked her. She couldn’t fantasize about him.
But still, she found herself drifting into his bubble. She remembered the rainy days, doing crossword puzzles, and their movie-theater mishap? Who knew that Jack’s boss was into romantic flicks?- Sam laughed in spite of herself.
“Yeah, I always thought Jack was funny looking, too,” Danny appeared out of nowhere.
“How much thought do you give these things?” She turned around and started putting files away.
“Probably not as much as you…” the handsome man coyly responded.
Sam contained herself from blushing. She couldn’t be so obvious!
“I’m headed to the Pink Flamingo with Viv and Martin. Joining us?”
“Um,” Samantha was tempted, but… “I think I’ll stay around, and finish up here.”
“Okay, but with you and Jack here, leave the office door open.”
“Stop it,” she playfully smacked him, but her smile had not returned. Danny noticed.
“You okay?”
“Er, yeah, I guess. I just… I hate losing people, ya know? She was so young. And her mother didn’t even notice what her dad was doing to her.”
“We are blinded by love.”
“In that relationship?”
“True. Hey, remember,” Danny stopped and took her face in his hands, “we save a lot more people then we lose. And we caught a well-known criminal. You can’t expect these cases to be perfect.” His words were true.
“Hey, kids,” Jack entered, slightly perturbed by the scene Danny and Sam were making.
“Hey, dad!” Danny jumped away. “You weren’t supposed to be home for an hour.” He joked as though he were a teenager.
“Short day at work,” he smiled crookedly.
“Alright, well I’ll see ya’ll later.”
“See ya’,” the couple chorused.
“You okay, Sam?” Was it so obvious she was down?
“Yeah, Danny beat you to the speech.” She crossed the room to erase the board
“I must be slipping.”
Now, Sam. Just do it. He’s right there, he’s not going anywhere. Sam’s head spun. “Um, Jack, do you wanna get a coffee? My treat.” She felt like a little school girl.
He looked at her with that curious, coy face, (the one that makes us all melt!). “I’d like to, but I’m meeting up with Kate once more before her mom takes her back to Chicago. How about you join us?”
“Oh, I couldn’t.”
“Yes, you can. I already got Danny’s autograph for her, and she’s seen Viv and Martin, so know you two have to catch up.”
“Alright,” Sam was pleased.
The two walked to the lobby, where Kate sat, playing her game boy. “Hi, Daddy!” She stood up and run to her father.
“Hey, sweetie,” he caught her in his arms. (Girls, you all know we love a sensitive man. Samantha is NO different.)
“Honey, is it okay is Sam comes with us?” Kate seemed to give her the once-over. She then opened her arms, expecting a hug. Samantha smiled and bent down. But in her ear, she heard the eight-year-old whisper,
“I like you better then Ann.” Sam was so surprised by the statement, she couldn’t let go of the girl.
“Okay, then, you two girls go out, and I’ll stay here,” Jack hadn’t heard the comment. Kate took her father’s hand, and then took Samantha’s. The two agents looked up at each other. And for one brief moment, Sam captured Jack’s eyes in hers. In that one instant, she swore she saw something she hadn’t seen in years. That glint of sweetness, which spread warmth through her body. Warmth that could only be placed by John Michael Malone.
