Summary: a young soldier the SGC has never seen before comes through the gate claiming to know an old man by the name of professor Jackson. AU, humour, romance, SJ, Daniel&? etc etc etc.
CH1: unexpected visitor
[SGC 2002]
“General, sir, we’ve got an incoming wormhole.”
“Do we have an iris code coming through?” Carter asked as General Hammond approached the computers.
“All our teams, except for Dr. Jackson’s and sg-7 are home for thanks-giving holiday,” General Hammond commented.
Walter readjusted his glasses. “Er, General, Sir. You’re not going to believe this.” The nerdy sergeant commented. “It’s an SG-5 signal sir.”
“That’s impossible!” Carter exclaimed. Jack entered the room after hearing the commotion from the briefing room.
“Anything wrong campers?” Jack asked calmly.
Walter quickly cut in. “Should I open the iris sir?” he asked. After getting a nod from General Hammond, the iris opened. General Hammond, Jack, Sam and Teal’c made their way to the briefing room, followed by a whole battalion of guards with machine guns.
For a moment there was nothing.. then someone walked backwards out of the shimmering pool of water. A person in army gear walked backwards down the ramp, tripped over their own feet, and it wasn’t until the feminine yelp was heard, that they knew it was a girl. She fell flat on her back, not letting go of her brown leather bag. Jack walked up to the girl and stood next to her, looking down.
“Well hello there.” Jack smiled. The girl adjusted her hat so that it was out of her eyes. She looked back up to see Jack’s hand outstretched, offering to help her up. She smiled and took his hand. Jack hoisted her up. Hammond gestured for the guards to lower their weapons.
“So ya gotta name?” Jack asked.
“Nat.. I mean lieutenant Natalie Manslow,” she replied. She looked around with a very confused look on her face. “I gather this is the alpha site?” she asked.
General Hammond thought she might be nuts. “No, this isn’t the alpha site. This is Stargate command. And I would like to know how you came through with an sg-5 iris code!” General Hammond bellowed. Nat looked confused.
“Sg-5? With all due respect sir, I am a member of SG-1. I came through with an sg-1 code. Professor Jackson told me to use my code even though there’s no iris on the alpha site yet.”
Carter, Teal’c and O’Neill all looked at the girl with confusion. “Did you just refer to Dr. Jackson?” Teal’c asked, eyebrow raised.
Carter’s eyes lit up. “Sir!” she squealed at Hammond. “I sense Naquada in her blood!” Nat looked annoyed.
“Of course there’s Naquada in my blood! I was a Tok'ra! Everyone knows that! It’s in the SGC records! And yes I referred to professor Jackson! He’s my friend!” Nat said defensively.
“Look, this conversation’s getting nowhere. Sir, I’d suggest moving this conversation to the briefing room,” O’Neill suggested. Hammond agreed. Nat was escorted to the briefing room, with Teal’c behind her incase she was trouble.
[briefing room]
“Okay lieutenant Manslow. If you please, could you explain to us, from the top how you got here?” General Hammond ordered. Nat put the worn out brown bag onto the briefing room table and sat down.
“Okay. Let’s see.. well I’m going to assume you have no idea who I am or where I came from. My name is Natalie Manslow. I am the daughter of Major-General Manslow, the commander of the space combat program. I was selected in year 10 to complete my final years at Colorado SGC army training program. My tutor and friend Professor Jackson knew everything about the Goa’uld and helped me to the Stargate just as the Goa’uld were invading us. He gave me this bag with his journals, instructing me to read them only after I got through the gate and he told me to take my transmitter so that on the other side they would realize I’m from sg1. I thought it was a bit odd because the alpha site gate doesn’t have an iris yet. Professor Jackson and I managed to get to the SGC so that we could escape to the alpha site with the others. Professor Jackson dialed the alpha site while I waited in the gate room. I ran through the gate, but I guess he didn’t follow. They must’ve got him. Next thing I know, I’m here and talking to you guys.”
“Doctor Daniel Jackson?” O’Neill asked. Nat nodded.
“Do you know him?” she asked. Just then, the sirens rang. It was an incoming wormhole.
“Well that should be Danny boy coming back now.” Jack smiled. Nat was confused. Everyone made their way to the gate room.
[gate room]
“Dr Jackson! How is the excavation going?” General Hammond asked. Daniel took off his bandanna and ruffled his short-cropped hair.
“Oh as well as a hundred degree day could go.” Daniel replied. He looked suspiciously at the young army-clad girl and looked at Sg-1. “Friend of yours?” Daniel asked.
“On contraire Danny, this girl claims to be YOUR friend. Lieutenant Natalie Manslow, this is Dr. Daniel Jackson. Danny, this is Lieutenant Manslow,” Jack introduced. Nat looked confused. So did Daniel.
“Um.. that’s not professor Jackson,” she said.
“I’m not?” Daniel replied in an oh-yes-I-am voice.
“The Professor Daniel Jackson I know is a sixty year old man!”
CH2: WHEN are you from?
“I’m what?!” Daniel exclaimed. He crossed his arms waiting for the answer.
Nat could barely get any words out, and Carter could tell it was from confusion.
“Lieutenant Manslow, what year is it?” Carter asked. Nat looked at her funny.
“What year is it? It’s 2031.” Nat replied.
Jack waved his hands in the air. “Will someone PLEASE tell me what is going on! Carter!” Jack looked at Sam.
Sam thought about it for a second then scratched her head. “Well sir, the only thin I can think of at the moment is that if lieutenant is really from 2031 then there must have been a solar flare on the surface of the sun as she stepped through the gate, which caused her to travel back to 2002.” Carter replied.
Jack looked at her funny. “So what you’re saying is she’s from the future?” He asked. Sam nodded. Jack smiled. “So kiddo! Tell me. Are we gonna be famous in the future?” Nat was about to speak, when Teal’c butt in.
“Colonel O’Neill. When we were sent to your 1969, you said that we should refrain from divulging any information regarding the future, our present time, so that we would not change the course of the future,” Teal’c commented. Jack huffed.
“So how are we meant to go about this then, Major?” Hammond asked carter. Nat felt non-existent.
“Sirs. Technically I’m not even born yet, and I’ve already been on missions more than 100 times. So is there any way I could stay here on the base? Put me under Professor Jackson’s care. He already knows me.. Will know me.. Sir,” Nat spoke up. General Hammond sighed.
“Well Frankly I don’t know what to do with you lieutenant. We have no idea how to predict solar flares so as you may know, it may be impossible to even consider sending you back to your timeline. I can’t let you off this base as you obviously know a lot about Stargate protocol. I’ll have to keep you confined on the base until we can figure out what to do with you. Dr Jackson, Teal’c. Would you please escort the lieutenant to the VIP room for the time being. Colonel, Major, I would like to talk to you two in my office now.” Hammond ordered. Daniel led Nat out of the gate room, followed by Teal’c.
“So you’re really Professor Jackson?” Nat asked as they walked down the grey halls. Daniel nodded.
“It’s just Doctor Jackson. But since you said we’re already friends, or will be, just call me Daniel,” Daniel smiled. “Nat, if you don’t mind me asking, I noticed that you weren’t surprised to see Teal’c here. I gotta say most new recruits are fascinated slash scared of him,” Dan commented. Teal’c was interested to hear her answer.
“Well considering Teal’c said that I shouldn’t really be divulging anything from the future, all I can probably say is I met him many times at Jack’s.. I mean Colonel O’Neill’s barbeques.” Nat replied. Daniel and Teal’c both looked at each other with confused expressions on their faces.
“Yes, well I really must talk to Sam and Jack about letting you tell us more about the future. Even if it’s just about what the four of us are doing in 2031!” Dan smiled. He began to get more curious about how well this unexpected visitor knew about himself and the rest of Sg1. He’d be writing about her in his diary tonight.
The trio reached the VIP room and Daniel opened the door, gesturing for Nat to go in. “Here we are. There’s going to be a guard at your door, so just holler if you need anything okay?” Daniel asked. Nat nodded and Daniel closed the door, leaving Nat alone in the room.
Nat walked to the bed and threw her brown leather bag onto it. The bag opened on impact and two large journals flew out of the bag. Nat sat on the bed and looked at the two books. Professor Jackson had handed her the bag as he had gone to the gate room to dial the alpha site. Technically the stuff in the journal was written by the FUTURE professor Jackson. It wouldn’t matter if she read them. After all, they were about things that probably haven’t happened yet! Nat opened the Journal to a random page:
June 28th 2002 We traveled to the Tok’ra base on P3-x473. Sam tried to convince Martouf that the Tok’ra would probably have a better chance at survival if they had numerous bases on different planets. Martouf said he’d talk to the council about Sam’s idea, but he thinks that they probably wont because the Tok’ra want to be as secretive as possible, and will have a higher chance of being found if they have numerous bases. Teal’c (being an ex-first prime) thinks that numerous bases would be wise because the Tok’ra do have a habit of their one and only base being found and destroyed.
(Yet again) Martouf asked Sam to go for a walk with him on the surface while we stayed inside the caves. Jack kept voicing out how much he distrusts the Goa’uld Tok’ra. Personally I think Jack’s a bit jealous that Sam and Martouf might actually be a good couple. Well, as good a couple as two people millions of light years apart can be. Teal’c agrees with me.
Nat yawned as flicked the crusty pages of the large journal. Professor Jackson had told her all about the ‘escapades of Sam and Jack.’ She met Professor Jackson in her senior years of SG high school. The high school was created specifically for the training of the next generation of troops for the Stargate program. Nat was a top student in the general sciences. In SG College, she trained as a soldier while majoring in psychology, history and human resources. Being only 25, she was extremely young to be put into an exploration team in the SGC program, let alone being put into SG-1; the no.1 team in the SGC. Every troop learned of the stories and triumphs of the original SG-1. But it was professor Jackson, with whom she remained friends with, who told her all the best stories. The two of them would spend hours watching ancient Egyptian shows that were showing old ancient mythology and how it was adopted and influenced by the Goa’uld. (now that the world knew about the Stargate.)
Nat lay on the double bed and continued to read random pages in Daniel’s journal.
[Hammond’s office]
“So Sir, any ideas on what we should do with this lieutenant?” Jack asked. Hammond shook his bald head as he sat at his desk. Carter stepped in.
“Sir, I hate to point out the obvious, we can’t send her back and if we do keep her around in the SGC program, it is going to be nearly impossible to prevent changing future that she came from. Eventually she’ll purposely or accidentally tell us what future events will be and if she does, we have to keep reminding ourselves that the events she’d experienced might never happen because we’ll have inadvertedly changed the future.” Carter explained. Jack looked at her funny.
“You really gotta lay off the coffee, Major,” Jack commented. Hammond huffed. Carter did have a point. Carter looked at Jack in a you’re-not-taking-me-seriously-enough look.
“Sirs, the lieutenant talked about SGC schools, journals that the future Daniel gave her and the Goa’uld attacking. Not to mention the technological advances she may know about and other alien races we could be allied with! Sir, her mere presence here is going to change the course of the future,” Carter added.
Jack pulled his hand out of his pocket and held it up in a ‘stop’ maneuver. “Carter. Stop. We get you.” Jack turned to Hammond. “So sir, what do YOU think?
“Well, I’ll call the president and see what he thinks. I’m going to give him my recommendation that she should remain on the base for the time being because she is a security risk.”
Just as Jack and Sam were exiting the room, Daniel and Teal’c entered. “Err guys, she knows a lot more about us than you know. She mentioned having spoken to the future Teal’c at one of Jack’s future barbeques,” Daniel explained.
“Oh Crud!” Jack exclaimed. “So she knows more about us than we know about her. I hate when that happens!”

ch3: AH fukit!
Sg-1 sat in the mess hall, talking about their new visitor over lunch.
“So what do you reckon Danny?” Jack asked as he shoved a spoonful of jelly into his mouth. Dan looked up, surprised.
“You’re asking me? She claims to know me, and a lot about us. In a nutshell it’s a bit weird,” Daniel replied. Teal’c nodded in agreement.
“You are correct Daniel Jackson. It is an odd feeling to have someone know more about yourself than you know about them. If she is to remain on the base, then should we not befriend her?” Teal’c suggested.
“So that we can learn about her?” Carter asked. “But that’d mean she’d have to tell us about the future.”
“Ah fukit!” Jack spat out. The others looked at him, surprised at the sudden burst of profanity. “Look Carter, you said it yourself that by here even being here she’s going to change the future, so why cant we just say stuff it, and let her tell us. It’s inevitable. So personally I think we should see how good a soldier she is and if she’s good, we’ll put her in a team and she can share whatever knowledge she has. She’ll be a great addition to the team,” Jack ate more jelly as the others sat dumbfounded.
“Is that what you told General Hammond just after we left his office?” Daniel asked.
Jack nodded. “Just without the ‘fukit’ at the beginning.”
* * * *
Nat sighed as she got up off the bed. She stretched her arms up in the air then got back onto the bed to keep reading. She’d figured that maybe what had happened to her would be in Daniel’s journals.
[August 23rd, 2002: Today was Sam’s birthday. General Hammond agreed that we should take the day off. Jack organized a surprise party for Sam and left it to Teal’c and I to get her out of the lab. Jack had given up trying to get her out of that lab all those times we had days off. And he thought we’d have a better chance. Teal’c and I figured that maybe the reason why she never got out of the lab on days off is because she didn’t want to go fishing with Jack. Teal’c tells us it is incredibly boring. Teal’c and I got Sam out of the lab by telling her we were going to take her to the movies for her birthday and that I would drive. She was extremely excited to see that we’d taken her to a hall with all her friends waiting there to surprise her. Jack had invited some of the Tolen, Thor, Sam’s dad and Martouf. I think Jack was a little hurt that Martouf had to come. Jack just says it’s because he doesn’t trust the Tok’ra, but the rest of us know that he’s just jealous. Jack would probably whack me over the side of the head if I ever told him that to his face. He cheered up though when Sam kissed him on the cheek when she found out it was he who organized the whole thing. She was even happier when she saw the new motorbike we got her for her birthday. All in all it was a great party.]
*knock knock*
Nat closed the journal and sat up. “Come in,” she called. The door opened and Daniel came inside, holding a tray of food.
“Thought I’d bring you some lunch,” He smiled. Dan looked on the bed and saw the journals. “Are those my journals?” He asked as he set the tray on the bedside table. Nat nodded.
“When you.. err.. future you went to dial the alpha site, you gave me the bag and told me that two of you journals were in it. Even though you’d never let me read them, you said I could read them after we’d past through the gate. The base was under attack and I stepped through the gate, thinking you were going to be right behind me. Now looking back I figured you had a hidden secret that you didn’t mind me knowing after we went to the alpha site,” Nat explained. Dan looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
“Hidden secret? What hidden secret?” Daniel reached for the journal Nat was reading. “Then it probably wont hurt if I read my own journals,” He said as he opened up the journal.
“What’s the date today?” Nat asked. Daniel replied that it was November 30th.
“Then the journal is of things that have already happened in this time. Why would you give me a journal about things that have already happened before I got here?” She asked. Daniel shrugged.
“Maybe to give you a detailed overview about our personalities and about what each of our friendships are like?” Daniel suggested as he flicked through the pages. Daniel’s paused flicking the pages and looked at Nat.
“What?” she asked. Daniel pulled a yellow folded note from the inside of the front cover. Nat saw the yellow folded note in his hand as he put the journal down, yelled out “Stay here. I.. err.. just got a brainstorm,” and left the room.
“You’re still an odd one Daniel,” Nat said to herself. She went back to reading the journal.
* * * *
“So Carter, are you going to come fishing with myself and Teal’c on the weekend?” Jack pleaded. Teal’c stood on the other end of Carter’s desk. He tried to read her notes on time travel.
“Sorry sir, but I really want to stay here and work out if there’s any way of getting the lieutenant home,” Carter replied. She really didn’t want to go fishing. Teal’c gave up and put down Carter’s notes.
“Perhaps we should go see a movie instead,” Teal’c suggested. Jack smiled. “I have seen on the TV a movie about ancient Egypt. I would very much like to see how the ‘Tari portray your ancient Egypt.” Teal’c requested. Carter laughed.
“Teal’c ‘The Mummy Returns’ is a sequel to the movie ‘The Mummy’. It’s a fictional movie about mummies and curses. It’s not based on actual facts.” Sam explained.
“I see,” Teal’c replied. “Then may you supply me with the first movie so that I may watch it before going to see this sequel?”
Jack smiled. “Video nights! It’s a date!” He squealed. Daniel ran into the lab, puffing like he’d just ran a marathon.
“Danny boy! We were just discussing having a video night on the weekend!” Jack exclaimed. Dan didn’t smile. “What’s wrong buddy?”
“I sent Nat here,” Dan held up the note. “I knew she’d be sent here, to this time, to us. That’s why I gave her the Journals! So she can learn more about us,” Daniel explained.
“How could you possibly know that Daniel?” Carter asked. Jack took the note off Daniel and read it aloud.
“I know you’re going to find this note before Natalie does. Undoubtedly Carter has already said that Natalie’s presence here is going to change the future..”
* * * *
Natalie flicked to the last paragraph of the last page of the first Journal Daniel gave her.
November 30th 2002: A young soldier named Lieutenant Natalie Manslow stepped through the gate today with an SG-5 iris code. As it turns out she is from the future. In the future the code we used for sg-5 is used for the future Sg-1. Apparently I (the future me) sent her here in an attempt to save her from the invading Goa’uld. I found a note in the back of my journal that explains that I knew that when she entered the gate, she would travel back in time 29 years.
The page ran out, so Nat went to the second journal.
September 25th, 2023: I’ve been asked to tutor a very interesting student by the name of Natalie Manslow. After meeting her, I’ve concluded that she is as cheerful and smart as I remember her being when she first stepped through the gate more than 20 years ago. I had very much looked forward to meeting her again…
Natalie jumped off the bed and ran to the door. She opened it and saw the guard at her door. “I need to see Dr. Jackson and the others right now!”
* * * *
[back in Sam’s lab]
Jack was stuck on a word in the note. “Dammit Daniel, I can never read your handwriting! What does this say?” Jack showed Daniel the note.
“She,” Daniel replied. Jack gave him a little glare.
“SHE will hopefully make a great contribution to the SGC. In this note I have written down a few Stargate addresses that might help you guys a bit. Don’t worry about you guys changing the future, Jack. Trust me, you’re going to want to see these planets. Daniel,” Jack finished reading.
“Wow,” Sam replied.
*knock knock*
“Excuse me, but the lieutenant wants to have a word with you,” the soldier that was guarding Nat’s door said. Nat came storming into the room with the journal under her arm. She walked up to Daniel and slapped him across the arm.
“OW! What was that for?!” Daniel cried. Nat looked furiously at him.
“You knew!! You knew I’d be sent to this time and all you gave me was a stupid journal! This whole time we were friends you knew the whole time who I was and that I’d be sent here! Our friendship was a lie!” Nat yelled. The guard was about to grab Nat but Jack stopped him.
“Okay kiddos, that’s enough,” Jack said, pulling Nat away from Daniel. “Don’t yell at Danny boy, he hasn’t done anything.. yet. Now whow did u find out that Daniel sent you here?” Jack asked. Natalie showed them the first page of the second journal that explains that Jack knew her before he even met her in the future.
“Well, this is interesting..” Jack mumbled, turning the pages in the journal.
“What is?” Daniel asked. Jack held up the book and showed everyone a photo of Sam and Jack’s wedding. “We don’t look half bad there!” Jack commented as he winked at Sam.
“Oh my..” Sam said, surprised.
Teal’c took the journal from Jack’s hands and closed it.
“Ah T! What was that for?!” Jack squealed.
“I don’t think we should be reading about events that have not yet come to pass, O’Neill,” Teal’c said. He handed the book back to Nat.
“So why does she get to read it then?” Jack asked as he watched the book being given back to Nat.
“Because she has already lived these events,” Teal’c replied.
General Hammond’s voice could be heard over the loudspeaker. “Colonel O’Neil to the briefing room.”
--------------------------------------------------------
Ch4: oh, what to do with you..
Jack knocked on the already opened door of Hammond’s office. “You rang, Sir?” Hammond gestured for Jack to come in.
“I just got off the phone with the president. It appears that he, along with the joint chiefs, agree with your recommendation, colonel. The lieutenant will remain here on base as a working member of the SGC. First thing tomorrow, Dr. Frasier is going to give her a full check up to make sure she isn’t really a Goa’uld or other alien form. Then, if she’s given a clean bill of health, she will give us any information she has about any future allies, planets of interest, that sort of thing. If after a while she is a proven soldier, she will join an Sg unit,” Hammond instructed.
“Sounds good, Sir. May I recommend that the lieutenant join Sg-1 sir?” Jack asked.
“We’ll see, colonel. Dismissed.” Hammond smiled. Jack nodded and exited the room. And headed for Sam’s lab.
[Sam’s lab]
“So, what did he say?” Daniel asked as Jack walked back into the room. Nat was sitting beside Carter, looking at the notes on time travel. Teal’c and Daniel were also seated across the table.
Jack saw Nat reading Sam’s notes and cocked his head to the side. “You don’t seriously understand all that do you?” He asked.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I?” She replied, confused.
“Jack!” Daniel but in.
“Right. Well kiddo, Hammond says you’re going to stay with us at the SGC. First we gotta take you to Dr. Frasier to get a check up, then for a while you’re probably gonna stay on the base. After a while, you’ll probably be put into an Sg team and go on missions,” Jack explained. Nat smiled.
Daniel put his arm around Nat. “Did you tell Hammond that we want her in our Sg team?” Daniel asked. Nat was surprised that Younger Daniel was just as protective of her as future Daniel was. Then she remembered that her future Daniel had met her before and she scratched that thought. But she was still surprised at the sudden affection he showed by putting his arm around her.
“Yes Daniel. But we’ll see what happens,” Jack said as he sat at the table with the others. Carter got annoyed when Jack started touching all the little gadgets on the table.
“Hey hey! Why is everyone in MY lab? Go destroy Daniel’s study. Sir! Don’t touch that!” Sam squealed, as Jack was about to touch a large red button on the contraption she was working on.
“Fine,” Jack huffed. “It’s time to go home anyway. Come’ on Teal’c, I’ll take ya home. Maybe we’ll go past the video shop and see if we can find that Mummy video,” Jack said as he exited the room with Teal’c in tow.
“I would very much like to see Star Wars again O’Neill,” Teal’c could be heard as they walked down the hall, leaving Sam, Daniel and Nat alone in Sam’s lab.
“I better go as well. Dad’s showing me the schematics for some of their Tok’ra weapons tomorrow,” she said excitedly as she grabbed her jacket. “Good night guys. Nat, nice to meet you.”
Nat and Daniel were left alone. It was dead silent. “So, hungry?” Daniel asked as he put his hand on Nat’s back, gesturing her towards the door. “I’ll doubt general Hammond will let you off base without a checkup from Dr. Frasier, so we’ll have to settle with food from the mess hall,” Daniel explained. Nat looked up at Daniel. It was an unbelievable feeling to see one of your best friends looking so young. She would look at all the photos of SG-1 when she were in his (future) office and think that if he were thirty years younger she would date him. She never DREAMED that she would actually meet his younger self. This was a whole new Daniel that she never knew. Yet, at the same time, he appeared to be the same cool, collected guy who always knew all the answers.
“Earth to Natalie..” Daniel said when he realized Nat didn’t respond to his explanation of the mess hall.
“Oh! Sorry Dan-.. I mean Dr. Jackson. I zoned out for a second there. Lead me to the mess hall!” She smiled. Daniel began walking again, but didn’t take his eyes off the 5’5” brunette.
“Daniel’s fine. If you call me Dr Jackson I’ll begin to feel like a 60 year old! You said we were friends, now lets act like friends. Come on, I’ll shout you an ice-cream after dinner,” Daniel smiled. Nat gave Daniel an oh-god-your-dumb look.
“Daniel, isn’t the food in the mess hall is free?..” she said back. Daniel smiled that goofy smile and kept walking.
[SGC mess hall]
“This is so weird!” Nat commented as she bit into her potato salad.
“The food tastes weird? Or coming back from the future is weird?”
“This. Us. Sitting here. It’s such a weird feeling sitting here with you, before I’m even meant to be born! And with you being a young man!.. Younger than what I’m used to.”
Daniel finished chewing his chicken. “Well, you said you knew myself and the others in your time right?” Nat nodded. “Well, maybe, try not to think of me, sitting right here with you, as the same Daniel Jackson of the future. The Daniel you knew in 2031 might appear to be the same person as I am now, but people change with time.”
“But it’s still gonna be weird. I guess I’ll get used to it though,” She replied.
Daniel smiled. “That’s the spirit. So, am I a good looking sixty year old?” Daniel asked with a sly grin. Nat laughed.
“I gotta say I’m not into old men, but you look pretty much the same as you do now,” Nat replied. Daniel perked up.
“Really? The same?” he asked, sitting up prudly at the comment.
“Just with wrinkles!” Nat said as she burst into laughter.
[Daniel’s study]
Daniel bid Natalie a goodnight and after seeing her to her room, he headed for his study. He wanted to write about her in his journal before going home for the night. He flicked on the light and sat at his desk, his journal waiting on the desk to be written in.
[November 30th 2002: A young soldier named Lieutenant Natalie Manslow stepped through the gate today with an SG-5 iris code. As it turns out she is from the future. In the future, the code we used for sg-5 is used for the future Sg-1. Apparently I (the future me) sent her here in an attempt to save her from the invading Goa’uld. I found a note in the back of my journal that explains that I knew that when she entered the gate, she would travel back in time 29 years.]
Daniel ran out of room on the last page so he began looking for the new journal he bought the other day. He opened it and continued writing.
[November 30th 2002 (continued..): Hammond said that she’d be staying with us on the base, and eventually she could possibly join an Sg team. Hopefully she joins Sg-1. I can’t help but think about myself as an old man, and having an amazingly cheerful friend like Natalie. After having dinner with her in the mess hall, I realized that I may have some feelings for the girl. I know I’m possibly 5 to 7 years older than her, and I feel bad saying this, but I can’t help feeling attracted to Natalie. Maybe it’s because she smiles and laughs just as Share` did does. Maybe I just miss Share`. Jack’s been trying to encourage me to ‘find other fish’ because deep down he probably thinks we’ll never get her back.]
Daniel yawned and closed the journal. He took his jacket off the back of his chair, turned off the light and went home.
* * * *
[July 27th 2031]
“Professor! They got Teal’c! We have to help him!” Natalie yelled. Elderly Daniel grabbed her arm.
“No! We cant! All we can do now is get to the alpha site!” Daniel yelled as he pulled Natalie through the briefing room. “You know as well as I that when the Goa’uld attack, they do so in enormous numbers! We have no chance at saving Teal’c and you know it!” Professor Jackson yelled. Natalie tried to keep back the tears. Their feet shook under the trembling ground. “They’re setting off bombs,” Daniel said. “We’ve got to get out of here!”
“Nearly everyone’s already gone through the gate, and everyone who hasn’t has been killed! You go to the gate room, and I’ll dial the alpha site,” Nat said quickly, pushing Daniel towards the spiral staircase that led down to the gate room. Daniel didn’t budge. “What are you doing!? GO!” She yelled, but Daniel still didn’t budge. Daniel took Nat’s hand off his shoulder and wrapped his hands around hers. He looked as if her had something to say.
“Nat, I’ll dial the gate. You go to the gate room.” He took his bag off his shoulder and put it on Nat’s shoulder, putting the sling over her head. “These are 2 of my journals. When we go through the gate, I promise I’ll let you read them,” Daniel explained. He bright blue eyes looked at her through the large round glasses, reassuring her that everything was going to be okay. Nat nodded and ran to the gate room.
Nat stood in the gate room waiting anxiously for Daniel to dial the alpha site. She’d lost her zat nikotel about ten minutes earlier when Teal’c got captured. She watched the chevrons spin around as the gate dialed. As soon as the gate ‘flushed’, Nat turned to look at Daniel still in the gate room. He put his mouth to the microphone. “Natalie, you go through. I’ll be right behind you!” Daniel said. Nat nodded and headed up the ramp. Just as she reached the top of the ramp, she turned around and saw Daniel being attacked. He mouthed ‘go!’ to her and she continued stepping backwards through the gate.
Daniel was knocked down by one of the Jaffa. “What is the address of the alpha site!?” The Jaffa yelled at Daniel. Daniel started laughing.
“You mock me, human?” The jaffa replied sternly. Daniel continued to laugh.
“Yes, I do mock you! She didn’t go to the alpha site. And no, I’m not going to give you the address for the alpha site!” Daniel laughed. The Jaffa aimed his staff weapon at Daniel’s face. Daniel continued to laugh.
“Do you think dying is funny, old man!? Maybe you should be used as a host then!” The Jaffa yelled. Daniel laughed even harder and pointed at the computers.
*self-destruct in 10 seconds*
“You know what’s funny? What’s funny is you’re all going to hell,” Daniel laughed. The Jaffa started to walk backwards, away from Daniel. Daniel started to glow. The Jaffa shielded their eyes as Daniel ascended. As he floated through the roof, the base exploded.

**author’s notes: now I know a few of you are wondering WHY old Daniel ascended. Well, I figured it’s the future and because he’d already ascended once before, so maybe he’d learnt how to ascend at will, or even someone helped him ascend that quickly.. it’s based in the future so who knows.. the real answer is in epilogue2, but trust me.. don’t read it until you’ve finished the story or it’ll wrek the ending!… the point of the end of ch 4 was to give u all an idea of HOW Nat got send back in time.. Oh! And sorry if these next few chapters get confusing cz I keep jumping back and 4th in time. I’m trying to explain all angles in the story. As I jump to the future, I TRY let everyone know how old Nat is.. helps to give you guys a general idea of where she is in her life… also I refer to a ‘hedgehog’ in ma story.. I have no idea if in other countries u call it a hedgehog but it’s a cake wif chopped up biscuits, chocolate etc in it (so YUM!) Well that’s enough yammering, on with the story!
---------------------------------------------
**authors notes: Just so u guys don’t get confused.. (even I have to refer to this from time to time):
Nov 30, 2002: Nat comes thru the gate (im basing sg-1 around season’s 3-5). I’m making Daniel around about 29-31 yrs old here. (if any1s got the real age leme no!)

Ch5: extra interest..
In the morning, O’Neill and Teal’c found Sam, Nat and Daniel in Daniel’s lab. “Good morning campers!” Jack said cheerfully. Teal’c bowed his head. “Aren’t you supposed to be getting a check-up from Dr. Frasier?” Jack asked. Nat got up from her seat.
“Just going now,” She smiled and headed out the room. Daniel got up from his seat.
“I better go with her.. You know, security reasons, etc..” Daniel explained as he backed out of the room. Jack rolled his eyes.
“So what were you all doing in here?” Jack asked, picking up the yellow notepad Carter had in front of her.
“Nat was giving us some gate addresses she knew and a general idea about each of the planets,” Carter replied.
Jack looked back at Carter and raised an eyebrow. “We’re calling the lieutenant by name? What happened to her rank?” Jack asked. Carter took the notepad back off Jack and smiled in an I-am-so-much-smarter-than-you way.
“She asked me to call her that. Just like she calls me Sam. Now if you two will excuse me, I have to go show these to General Hammond,” Carter said as she exited the room.
Jack looked at Teal’c, who had remained silent. “Are there any women on Chulac like her?” Jack asked.
“Indeed there are not, O’Neill. Women such as her would have become hosts to the Goa’uld. Major Carter is also possibly smarter than all the people on Chulac,” Teal’c replied.
Jack huffed. “Forget I asked.”
------------------------------------------------
“Dr Jackson, you’ll have to wait outside. I can take Natalie from here,” Frasier said as she shooed Daniel from the infirmary. Jack walked down the hall just as Frasier shut the door on Daniel.
“I already told you off for having a girl on every planet, but do ya’ hafta have one on the base as well!” Jack complained. “Can’t you find a nice girl from Minnesota for example? We can all go fishing together!” Jack smiled at the thought of fishing.
Daniel crossed his arms and frowned. “Jack, I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Oh come on Danny! It’s perfectly obvious that you find her attractive. Personally, I think you’re thinking if you can get her to forget that she knew you as a dirty old man, she might actually go out with you,” Jack smiled. He loved teasing Daniel.
“Dirty old man!? What are you implying Jack?! That I find her attractive when I’m 60years old?! I’m already freaked out that she knew me as a golden oldie as it is, so can we just skip this subject?” Daniel pushed. Jack nodded and the two began walking down the hall towards the gym.
“Daniel, have you ever heard the saying ‘don’t dip your pen in the office ink’? I just want you to back off Nat for the time being okay?” Jack explained. Daniel kept walking.
“Wasn’t that a picture of you and Sam getting married that I saw in Natalie’s journal?” Daniel said back, letting a tiny smirk show.
“Well, that hasn’t happened yet, so it doesn’t count,” Jack stammered.
“Uh-huh..” Daniel said sarcastically as he and Jack continued down the hallway. There was silence for a few seconds.
“Nat said she knew us in the future. I’m curious to know if when we’re all old and wrinkly, we would be tempted to tell the young Nat that one day she’d travel 29 years back in time and see us?” Jack asked.
------------------------------------------------
[May 5th, 2024]
“So how did your parents react when they heard you got into the SGC College?” Elderly Daniel asked as he drove. He looked at Nat who was in the passenger seat, balancing a hedgehog cake on her lap.
“Dad was thrilled! He’s been telling everyone on his starship about it! It’s so embarrassing! Mum’s more thrilled that I finally got my driver’s license,” Nat replied, pulling out her driver’s license and showing Daniel.
“18 already..” Dan sighed. “My little pupil is growing up!”
“You sound like my mum!” Nat complained. “And besides, I’ll most likely need you to keep tutoring me when I hit college.. I can’t believe you’re actually going to let me meet the original SG-1 team!” Nat squealed, changing the subject.
“Hey, I was part of that team too!” Dan joked.
Nat rolled her eyes. “Yeah but I’ve already gotten over the excitement over finding out you were going to tutor me. I haven’t met the others before.”
“Gee.. Thanx. Oh we’re here!” Daniel said as he pulled into Jack’s driveway.
Daniel and Nat walked to the front door of Jack’s lodge and rung the bell. An Elderly man with white, short-cropped hair opened the door.
“Well well Well. Look who finally decides to show up!” Jack laughed as he hugged Daniel. After the hug, Jack looked at Nat, and she could have sworn he looked at her as if he knew her already.
“Jack, this is Natalie Manslow. She’s the student I’ve been telling you about,” Daniel said casually. Jack held out his hand, waiting for Nat to shake it.
“We’ve met,” Jack said as Nat shook his hand. Nat had a confused look on her face.
“Sorry, I don’t think we have. I’d remember meeting someone from the original Sg-1!” Nat said excitedly. ‘This guy must be going nuts in his old age!’ she thought to herself.
“Oh, my mistake then,” Jack apologized, pulling his hand back. “But you do look a lot like someone I used to know. Well, come in. Meet the gang! Teal’c and Sam are out back. The kids are still holydaying in Washington, so we have the joint to ourselves today,” Jack pointed in the direction of the back door. Dan and Nat made their way through the living room towards the backdoor. Daniel stopped at the backdoor and moved out of the way for Nat to go through.
“Lady’s first,” Daniel smiled as he gestured for Nat to walk through the door. As Nat exited the living room, she could see Teal’c standing at the barbeque and Sam leaning against the picnic table with an ice tea in her hand. “Hey Sam, Teal’c!” Daniel said as he followed Nat out into the backyard. Sam and Teal’c turned their attention towards Nat and Daniel. Nat wondered why Sam also looked like she’d finally seen a long lost friend.
“Natalie, nice to finally meet you,” Sam said calmly. Nat shook her hand.
“Yeah.. Same,” Nat said nervously. “You don’t know how many of my friends would kill to meet you guys!” Nat spat out! Teal’c Turned from the barbeque towards Nat.
“Killing would be unnecessary,” Teal’c said stoically. Jack gave Teal’c a look. “But it is very nice to meet you Natalie Manslow,” Teal'c smiled.
“Okay, Okay. Stop crowding the poor gal! Natalie, seat yourself at the picnic table and I’ll get you a Pepsi,” Jack instructed as he headed for the eski next to the barbeque. Nat seated herself opposite Sam at the picnic table.
“So Natalie, how is your dad? I haven’t seen him since I retired,” Sam asked.
“Well, he’s been on his starship for a month, but he sends us video messages almost every day, which has been good. He’s due back home in a week.” Nat explained.
Daniel opened a beer for himself. “Natalie got a letter of acceptance into SG College this morning,” Daniel announced.
“Congratulations Kiddo!” Jack yelled as he raised his beer. “Your parents must be proud.” Natalie nodded.
“They are. What was it like for you guys? Being in Sg-1?” Natalie asked.
“It was most memorable,” Teal’c smiled.
“It was full of action, emergencies, firefights, romance, suspense, and I wouldn’t have turned it down for the world,” Jack explained. “It’s an experience to remember.”
“Daniel, could you help me in the kitchen for a sec?” Sam asked Daniel. Daniel nodded and they headed back into the house.
When they got into the kitchen, Sam broke down and started crying. “Sam, are you okay?” Daniel asked. Sam grabbed the dishcloth from the benchtop and wiped her eyes.
“I just want to tell her that I missed her! I don’t know how you do it Dan, seeing her all the time and not wanting to just tell her about her being our friend. It makes it harder because she doesn’t even know about anything that happened over twenty-five years ago!” Sam sobbed. Daniel gave her a hug.
“The first day I met this Nat, I had to leave the room for a few minutes, just to compose myself. It’s gotten easier for me to be around her, but yes, it does feel weird because she has no idea about what’s going to happen to her,” Daniel said quietly. He broke his hug with Sam and wiped her eyes. “This isn’t the Nat we knew, not yet anyway.”

**authors notes: can u believe it.. I thought of this chapter while I was in the shower today! These things always come to me when I’m nowhere near a pen n paper! *huff*.
Ch6: distant relatives..
[Hammond’s office]
“Doctor Frasier has given Lieutenant Manslow the okay,” Hammond explained to SG-1.
“So does that mean she’s going to be assigned to a team?” Jack said chirpily, hands in his pockets, while rolling onto the balls of his feet then down again. “Namely, SG-1?”
Hammond sat back in his seat. “For the time being, were going to keep her on base for a while, build some trust,” Hammond explained.
“So what is she going to do while staying here?” Sam asked.
“For the time being, she can assist each one of you,” Hammond replied.
“In what?” Daniel asked.
“Do you mean, like a personal assistant?” Jack asked, casually leaning on the doorframe.
Hammond nodded. “I find it is the best way for each of you to get to know her before she is assigned to your team,” Hammond smiled.
Teal’c tilted his head. “General Hammond, I have nothing for lieutenant Manslow to assist me in,” Teal’c said.
Jack smacked Teal’c on the arm. “Sure there is! We can help her watch all the classic movies that she’s probably never heard of. Take Star wars for example!” Jack emphasized. Teal’c nodded in compliance. -------------------------------------------------
Nat sobbed silently as she read through the second journal that elderly Daniel gave her.
[Dec 24th, 2023: Nat went home from the college a few days ago for the X-Mas weekend. I went to Sam and Jack’s place today. Jack spent the whole day complaining that his bald patch is getting bigger. We all laughed when Teal’c said that ‘being bald isn’t so bad.’ Sam keeps asking me to bring Nat over. They’re all eager to see her again. I told them that she’d have to see them when she’s ready. If she meets them and they cry, then it’s going to be pretty suspicious. Nat wouldn’t have a clue at what’s going on. I know it feels weird but after what happened to Nat, I feel like this is my chance to take it all back, to care for her, look after her and be her friend..]
Nat was cut off by the sound of the door knocking.
“Come in!” she tried to say without sounding like she had been crying. Daniel, Teal’c, Jack and Sam entered the room to see Nat crying. Sam got to the bed first and sat next to Nat.
“Nat, what’s wrong?” Sam asked, rubbing Nat’s back. Nat sat up and closed the thick brown book.
“It’s this stupid journal. I cant help but wonder if Daniel, the one from my time, died or not after I came through the gate,” Nat sobbed. “And I cant help but wonder why I’m not in this second journal.”
Jack looked confused. “You ARE in the journal.”
“Myself as a 17 year old, yes. But not THIS me,” She said, touching her chest. “The me here now with you guys, who when 2024 rolls up again, shouldn’t I be in my forties?”
“Cheer up kiddo! You’re probably around, just maybe Daniel doesn’t mention you. Most kids your age don’t worry about their forties yet. So just forget about it. Nothing’s definite,” Jack re-assured Nat. Everyone looked at Jack, surprised. “What?”
“Nat, Jack’s right. Don’t worry. Oh! We came here to tell you some good news!” Dan said excitedly. “General Hammond said that for the time being you’re going to stay on the base, help us out wherever we need, kinda like a personal assistant. Then after a while, you’ll get to be on SG-1 with us!” Daniel smiled. Nat’s eyes widened.
“You’re kidding! SG-1 with you guys! Back in my time all we could do was DREAM about something like this!” Nat squealed.
“So we’re famous in the future eh? Can’t wait till the future! O’Neill, two L’s,” Jack said, holding up three fingers.
*unscheduled incoming wormhole*
Sg-1 ran out of the room and headed for the gate room. Nat jumped off the bed and followed.
“It’s a Tok’ra signal sir.”
“Open the iris.”
Sg-1 lined up next to General Hammond in the gate room. Nat stood at the end of the line, next to Teal’c. They all watched the shimmering pool of water to see who would come through. Suddenly, Jacob and Martouf ran through the gate and down the ramp so fast that they almost crashed into General Hammond and Jack.
“Jacob, are you alright?” Hammond asked, seeing Jacob holding his shoulder. Their clothes were dirty and Jacob had taken a staff weapon hit to the shoulder.
“Hey George. Don’t worry, it’s nothing that Selmac cant handle. We came because we need your help,” Jacob explained.
Jack smiled. “Leme guess, you’re going to explain on the way? Because this time we ain’t moving unless you explain what’s going on.” Jack said sternly.
Natalie looked at Martouf and felt tears well up in her eyes. “Martouf?” Nat asked, holding back her tears.
Martouf looked at her funny. “Yes.” Nat took a step closer to Marty.
“You’re alive? All this time.. she prayed you were alive..” Nat mumbled. Everyone turned and looked at the conversation that was taking place.
“What are you talking about? Of course he’s alive!” Jack poked Marty in the arm to emphasise his point.
Nat wiped away her tears. “Remember when I told you I was a Tok’ra at one point? Well, on one of my missions, we found a Tok’ra named Kayleen,” Nat began to explain.
Marty’s eyes also began to water. “You found Kayleen?” He started to choke on his words as he tried to stop himself from crying. “Where is she!?” Marty demanded.
“Kayleen was dying when we found her, so I took her symbiote Kian and became its new host,” Nat explained. Then she turned and faced Martouf again. “Kayleen tried her hardest to find you. She wanted to say sorry for what she said to you that day the Goul’d took over your planet. She spent the rest of her life hoping to find you again. But in my time, when I’d become her host, you were already-”
“Okay. That’s enough. No more fortune telling!” Jack waved his hands up in the air as he cut off Nat. He then turned to Marty. “Who is Kayleen? And what did she say on the day the Goul’d took over?”
Marty wiped his eyes. “She was my sister. Just before the Goul’d attacked my planet, we had a fight, and loosely translated, she called me a scrawny, ugly son of Apophis,” Marty laughed.
Jacob scratched his nearly bald head. “What do you mean by ‘in your time’?” He asked Nat. Jack stepped in and put his arm around Jacob, leading him out of the gate room.
“I’ll explain on the way. So tell us more about this threat that needs our help.”
[briefing room]
“You chose what?! Why on earth would you pick one of Nerti’s old planets for your second base!?” Jack yelled across the table.
Jacob huffed. “It was a deserted planet and we thought it would be the last place any Goul’d would look” Jacob explained as calmly as he could.
“Lemme guess.. Nerti came back,” Daniel asked sarcastically.
“How’d you no?” Marty replied.
“That’s what always happens.”
General Hammond stood up. “Sg-1 suit up and be ready to go ASAP. Dismissed,” He ordered.
“May I request this girl-” Marty began but was cut off by Nat.
“It’s Nat,” Nat said to Marty. Marty nodded in thanks.
“Nat, to come also. We have much to talk about,” Martouf requested. Everyone else in the room didn’t move, waiting for Hammond’s decision.
“She’s already trained and is in SG-1 in her time. And we could always use another helping hand,” Jack explained.
General Hammond nodded. “Very well.” He then turned to Nat. “Consider this your trial period as an SG-1 member,” He pointed out. Nat saluted and ran out of the room with Daniel and Sam. Hammond then turned to Jack. “Colonel, I can’t send you any back up because all the other teams are home for the Thanks-Giving holiday.” Jack nodded and ran to get suited up.

CH7: jealousy.
Martouf and Jacob waited in the gate room with General Hammond for Sg-1 and Natalie to get ready.
The blast doors opened and Sg-1 entered, with Nat following behind. Hammond nodded to the Walter in the computer room and the gate started dialing. “So, are we gating right to the planet?” Jack asked.
Jacob shook his head. “No. We’re gating to a nearby planet where we left our transport ship. We’ll gate there, then fly to the planet,” Jacob explained.
Jack, Sam and Jacob walked through the Stargate together. Daniel stood to Nat’s right, ready to walk up the ramp with her. Martouf walked up to Nat and smiled. The short brunette was no taller than his chin. Nat looked up at him with her big brown eyes.
“My sister had big eyes like yours,” Marty commented. Nat smiled. “I would very much like to talk to you when we are on our way to Nerti’s planet.” He smiled and took Nat’s hand in his as he led her up the ramp. Daniel huffed and walked towards the gate alone.
[on the Tok’ra transport ship]
Martouf and Natalie sat alone in the storage room of the transport ship. Daniel had already given Jacob and Martouf a quick summary of how Natalie came from the future. Jack and Jacob started up the transport ship and were already arguing over strategies on how to fight the Goaul’d. Sam and Teal’c adjusted a Naquadah bomb (just incase). Daniel leaned against the wall, silent as a mouse pretending to be listening to Jack and Jacob. Instead, he watched Martouf and Natalie with a tinge of jealousy in his eyes.
“Please tell me, what happened to her?” Martouf asked.
“Kayleen was a strong woman,” Nat smiled. “After the Goaul’d invaded your home planet, she had become one of the maids to Amaunet, wife of Apophis. She lived well, but feared that she might one day be possessed by a Goul’d. One day, a Tok’ra came up to Kayleen, asking for her help to infiltrate Apophis’ ship. She helped him by hiding him in one of the boxes Amaunet uses to store her clothing. The Tok’ra failed his mission and his symbiote jumped into Kayleen. The symbiote’s name is Kian. Apophis found out that Kian had jumped into Kayleen and so he exiled her so a planet that had no Stargate. She was stuck on the planet for almost 20 years until anyone had come to the planet. A race of aliens from a nearby planet called Spanek had started using the planet Kayleen was stuck on for mining. She convinced them to take her back to their planet, where there was a Stargate. She’d come to like the people of Spanek so much that she decided to stay for a while before coming to find you. My team and I had gone to Spanek on an exploration mission and that’s where we found her. She had contracted a disease, which wasn’t fatal to the people of Spanek. Kian couldn’t help her and I volunteered to become Kian’s host until a suitable host could be found.”
Martouf shed a single tear. “And with that you inherited all of Kayleen’s memories. Then you, Natalie, may not be my sister in the flesh, but she lives in you... In here,” Martouf put his hand on the back of Nat’s head. “You are my sister.”
Jack noticed that Daniel was watching Nat and Martouf. He got up and stood casually against the wall next to Daniel. “It’s like playing six degrees of Kevin Bacon with that girl! She seems to be either related to or friends with everyone,” Jack commented.
“Hmm.” Daniel let out a smile, and then he noticed that Sam was also watching Martouf and Nat from time to time.
Teal’c overheard the conversation between Jack and Daniel. “What manner of food is a Kevin Bacon?”
Natalie began to cry also. “It is such an odd feeling, having someone else’s memories, but I too feel like you’re my brother in some way.” Martouf leaned towards Natalie and hugged her. Daniel hadn’t heard a word they’d said, but watched them with the eye of a hawk while Jack tried to explain the game with the actor Kevin Bacon.
* * * *
[3hrs later: Tok’ra base]
Nat and Daniel crouched just inside the door of the Tok’ra’s council chamber. Jack could be heard over the radio barking orders.
“Well this is just peachy,” Nat complained as she shot another Jaffa with her Zat gun. “I’m going to die on my first mission.” Daniel moved Nat out of the way of more fire from the staff weapons.
“Don’t say that. We’ll find a way out of this!” Daniel yelled over the sounds of staff weapons going off. Daniel shot down one of the Jaffa that was blocking their exit. “Come on! This way!” Daniel said, getting up and pulling Nat with him. They ran across the corridor and into another room.
“Everyone! Back to the ship NOW!” Jack could be heard over the radio. Daniel looked at Nat.
“No sh*t! Ya think!?” Nat yelled. Daniel laughed. A Jaffa heard the laughter and headed into the room that Daniel and Natalie were hiding in. Both of them stood like deer in the headlights as the Jaffa entered the room with a Zat gun. “Dan!” Nat yelled out. She jumped in front of Dan as the Jaffa fired his weapon.
* * * *
[Jacob’s transport ship]
Daniel ran aboard the ship while Teal’c gave cover fire. Daniel carried the unconscious Natalie on his back. Once Daniel and Natalie were safely aboard, Teal’c ran back aboard the ship and gave the order to Jack. Jack pressed a number of buttons and the ship cloaked and took off.
“Carter, how long until the Naquadah bomb blows?” Jack asked Sam.
“One minute, 25 seconds, Sir,” She replied, looking at her watch. “We’ll have plenty of time to get far away enough from the blast.”
Jack smiled and slapped Jacob on the back of the shoulder. Jacob winced in pain because Jack had hit the shoulder that had the staff weapon burn on it. “Sorry Jacob. Just so glad we got out of there. I hope next time you guys will learn to pick an uninhabited planet that doesn’t belong to a Goul’d!”
Daniel walked to the storage room and found a spot on the floor amongst the 20 or so Tok’ra that Sg-1 had saved. Some were injured, and those that weren’t, aided the ones that were.
Daniel held Natalie in his arms. She was becoming conscious as he lightly slapped her face. Martouf sat beside them with a wet towel to wipe Nat’s face. She slowly woke up to see Daniel and Martouf looking down at her. Nat looked up at Daniel and smiled. “Hey! You survived!” She mumbled, still trying to open her eyes. Daniel smiled back. She tried to move but yelped when she felt a sudden pain on the side of her upper thigh. Martouf unraveled the wet towel and used it to cover the staff weapon burn on her leg.
“Yeah sorry about that,” Daniel gave a sheepish look. Teal’c bought some dressings to go over her wound and gave them to Martouf. “I gave you a piggy-back because you were unconscious, and as I was running to the ship, one of the Jaffa got you,” Daniel explained. Natalie bit her lip as Martouf cut a bigger hole in the left side of her pants, just above the knee, to make room for the burn dressings. Daniel sat on the ground behind Natalie, so that she could lean on him as she lay on her side, to allow for Marty to dress the wound.
“We could really use one of the Goul’d healing devices right now,” Martouf mumbled as he fumbled with the dressings.
“We have one, back at the SGC,” Daniel replied. Martouf nodded and explained that he’d use it on Natalie once they got back to the ‘Tauri base. Natalie groaned from the pain as Marty wrapped her leg with the bandage. Daniel felt guilty that he enjoyed the feeling of Natalie’s head under his chin. He resisted the urge to smell her hair. He could feel her holding onto his T-shirt for comfort from the pain and it made him feel bad that he didn’t want her t let him go.
--------------------------------------------------
[back at the SGC]
Sg-1 sat in the briefing room with General Hammond, explaining to him what had happened. Martouf and Jacob were in the infirmary with Dr. Frasier, using the Goul’d healing device whenever possible.
“So Sir, I think it’s safe to say that most of Nerti’s brand spanking new army are all dead,” Jack smiled.
“Oh she’s gotta be furious that we destroyed one of the only armies that she’s actually rounded up,” Daniel smiled.
“Indeed,” Teal’c smiled.
Natalie knocked on the already opened door or the briefing room. “Come in Lieutenant,” Hammond instructed. Nat walked in, rubbing her leg.
“How’s your leg?” Sam asked as Nat sat next to Daniel.
“It’s pretty good. It’s kinda itchy though. Marty said that’s normal for burns that have been healed with that healing device,” Nat explained.
“Well Lieutenant, Sg-1 have already updated me on what happened and I was just about to dismiss them. So Lieutenant, let’s just say you’ve proved yourself in battle. Welcome to Sg-1. Dismissed,” Hammond explained.

CH8: desires
[December 19, 2002: Over the last two or so weeks since the Tok’ra rescue mission, Nat has been hanging out with our team. Lately it’s become a routine that after dinner, if there is no mission, Nat hangs out with me in my study. We’ve been playing Egyptian solitaire, and/or talking about our lives before the SGC, missions we’d been on, past loves, etc. I feel sorry for her when I get to go home and she has to stay at the base every night. Tonight I’m staying on base because I have to research a bit more on some artifacts we’d found last week.]
Daniel could hear knocking on the door. Nat was standing at the door wearing only a long, oversized, knee length army green T-shirt. Daniel tried his hardest to keep his eyes fixed on hers, instead of running his eyes down to her bare legs, up to her slim figure, wearing nothing but a t-shirt.
“Nat,” was all that Daniel could mumble. Nat walked into the room, her face looked so oblivious to the fact that she looked incredibly sexy with her messed up hair and little clothing.
“Dan, I thought you went home with the others?” Nat said quietly as she walked up to Daniel. He tried his hardest not to think about s*x as she walked up to him. He kept his chair pushed in under the desk, for fear of getting a hard-on in front of her.
“Nah, I decided to stay behind and work on these translations,” Daniel replied, trying to keep his cool. He closed his journal. Nat walked right up to Daniel and grabbed the underside of Dan’s chair, rolling the desk chair out from under the desk. Nat stood between Daniel’s legs and looked right into his bright blue eyes.
“That’s good to hear,” Nat whispered as she slipped his glasses off his nose and placed them on the desk next to her. Daniel remained silent, unsure of what was going on. Nat cupped Daniel’s face and smiled. She slowly closed her eyes and leaned towards Daniel. He could feel the warmth of her breath on his lips. Nat’s tongue licked Dan’s bottom lip before her lips pressed up against his. Dan ran his hand down her back, slowly moving down to caress her…
“Daniel! Yoo-hoo! Daniel!”
Daniel woke up to find that he had fallen asleep at his desk. Nat stood next to him in her army green T-shirt and a pair of large black boxers, unlike the clothing in Daniel’s dream. “Nat? What are you doing here?” Daniel asked, as he re-adjusted his crooked glasses.
“Well I got up to go to the bathroom, and your study is on the way there. Tonight I saw your light on so I came in to see if you’d left your lamp on. Then I see you asleep on the desk,” Nat explained. “Why didn’t you just go home?”
“Well I wanted to work on these translations,” Daniel yawned mid sentence.
“I know it’s against regulations, but sleep in my room until the morn so you don’t have to sleep on your desk. You can leave early before anyone knows you stayed in my room overnight,” Nat offered.
“You want me to sleep in your bed?” Dan asked, raising one eyebrow.
“Well it is a double bed, but I shotgun the left side! Just pure sleep. Just sneak out early before Jack and the rest of them come in for the day so I don’t get in trouble for you being in my room okay?” Nat explained. Dan nodded and they made their way to Nat’s room.

Dan woke up and looked at the clock. 5:15am. Most personnel start arriving at 6am. He almost didn’t get out of bed. That night Nat had fallen asleep first. Just as he was falling asleep, Nat rolled over to face Daniel. In the morning he woke up with Nat curled up in his arms. He took one last look at the sleeping beauty. Daniel quickly kissed her on the forehead before exiting the bed. He put his boots back on and left the room to go back to his study, as if he’d been there the entire night.

[9am: Daniel’s study]
“Good morning campers!” Jack entered the room, smiling cheerily. Nat and Daniel were working on the translations that Daniel didn’t end up finishing the night before. “Daniel, when did you get here?” Jack asked.
“I never left Jack,” Daniel replied, taking off his glasses to clean them.
“Never left? You must have been working hard,” Jack smiled. He looked from Dan to Nat, then from Nat to Dan, suspicious that Daniel was hiding something. “Well lieutenant, since you’re going to be living in the early 20th century, you might as well live like someone in the early 20th century. I thought I’d bring you some cd’s for you to listen to,” Jack put a pile of Cd’s on the desk in front of Nat. “It’s stuff Cassandra’s into at the moment. Major Carter thought you’d enjoy Cassie’s taste in music more than my own tastes.” Nat picked up the cd’s to examine them.
“Cassandra Frasier? She was one of the top psychologists of my time. She tried to figure out how telekinesis works,” Nat replied, then went back to looking at the cd’s. Jack looked at Dan. Both shrugged at each other. “Britney Spears? Pink? Evanescence? These are golden oldies in my time!” Nat looked through the cd’s. Jack huffed then plonked a set of keys on top of the cd pile. “What are the keys for?” Nat asked, picking them up.
Jack smiled. “We think it’s about time you got your own apartment. It’s in the same apartment building as Teal’c and Daniel’s apartments. Nat smiled.
“Thanks colonel! When can I get to see it?!” She squealed.
“Well,” Jack said looking at his watch. “General Hammond said we’ve got a mission at oh thirteen hundred, so I guess we can go now. I’ll go get Teal’c,” Jack explained as he made his way out of the room.
“What about Sam?” Dan asked. Jack paused and turned back around.
“I saw her just before I came in to see you guys. She’s got another one of her projects again. She must’ve had a brainstorm overnight because she asked me to leave her alone. I don’t think we should be disturbing her,” Jack explained. Dan shrugged and helped Nat carry the cd’s out of the room.

[Nat’s apartment]
“Home sweet home!” Jack said cheerily as he opened the door. He held the door open for Nat and Teal’c, but purposely closed the door on Daniel.
“Jack! Haha very funny,” Daniel said sarcastically, pushing the door back open.
“Well you’ve got, a kitchen, complete with oven, microwave, fridge. One bedroom with double bed, but no clothes- Carter said she’d take you shopping this week. You got, one study, and lastly, one living room with 68cm TV and DVD player,” Jack explained, as he walked room to room, posing like those women who pose next to the TVs in the commercials. Teal’c sat himself down on the couch and put on the sports channel.
“T, What are you doing?” Jack asked, moving away from the T.V.
“It is the replay of last nights Hockey game,” Teal’c replied, smiling slightly.
“Hockey? Gimme that!” Jack took the remote off Teal’c and changed the channel. “You’re missing the Baseball replay!” Jack said, lounging back on the couch. “Now THIS is sport!”
“Wow! Jack, thanx for this. In my time I was thinking about moving out on my own. Where are Teal’c and Daniel’s apartments?” Nat asked. Daniel sparked his attention when Nat said his name.
“Teal’c is across the hall in 213, so keep the music down, especially when he’s in kelnoreem. Daniel is one floor up in room 315. And all our phone numbers, along with the SGC’s are on the fridge,” Jack explained.
“Oh, guys it’s just past eleven thirty. Shouldn’t we be getting back for our briefing?” Daniel said, pointing to his watch.
“Yeah I guess you’re right. Let’s go,” Jack replied. Jack and Teal’c got off the couch, turned off the TV and they headed back to the SGC.

That evening, Sam and Janet had taken Nat out to buy clothes. The three ladies sat at a café in a nearby Mall.
“..And then Daniel pushed Jack into the lake!” Sam laughed. The other two laughed at Sam’s story.
“So Sam, I was just wondering, how come you haven’t made a move on Marty yet?” Nat asked. Sam nearly choked on her drink.
“Well, Nat, it’s exactly what I’ve been asking Sam for the last year,” Janet commented, happy that someone else had the guts to ask Sam.
Sam put her coffee back down and glared at Janet. “How did you-”
“Daniel’s journal,” Nat replied, smiling oh so innocently. “He thinks you should get with Marty as well. Teal’c reckons Martouf has made many attempts to show that he has feelings for you.”
“What? Daniel? Teal’c? But I saw a picture of my marriage to Jack in the future Journal,” Sam replied defensively.
“Sam, in the future you once told me that the future is never certain. Just because you have seen a future event, it doesn’t mean it will happen,” Nat explained. “Plus, he’s cute!”
Sam smiled. “He is a bit, isn’t he.”

Nat got back from shopping with Sam and Janet at about 8pm. She carried her many shopping bags to her bedroom and plonked them on the floor at the foot of the bed. She was too tired to put them all away. She walked into the kitchen and saw that the answering machine had one message. Nat pressed the play button.
“Hey Nat, it’s Daniel. Gimme a call when you get home from shopping with Sam. I was thinking maybe we can have a mini housewarming party, just us two.”
Nat was surprised by the message. She grabbed the cordless phone and checked the fridge for Dan’s home number.
“Hello?”
“Hey Dan, it’s Nat.”
“Oh hey Nat. How was shopping?”
“Really good! I finally have my own wardrobe! It’s so good!” She squealed. “You wanted to have a mini party?” She asked.
“Yeah.”
“Well I AM in the mood to party a bit. Even if it’s just us. I’ve got munchies here, but I don’t really have anything to entertain you with, except for the TV and Cassandra’s cd’s.”
“That’s okay. When do you want me to come over?” Daniel asked.
“Well, give me about 5 minutes to clean up a little, then come on over!” Nat looked around her apartment and figures she needed to fix the cushions on the couch, clean the kitchen a little and make her bed.
“Okay, I’ll see you in five!”,

*knock knock*
Nat opened the door to see Daniel in a blue shirt and cream colored kaki pants. Nat thought that Daniel looked extremely hot with his top two buttons undone, exposing the flesh on his neck.
“Hey!” Nat said cheerfully as she let Daniel into her apartment. Daniel handed her a bottle of champagne.
“Just a little something to liven things up a bit,” Daniel smiled. He watched Nat take it to the kitchen. She wore her jeans, which flared at the bottom, and a tight black t-shirt, which barely reached the waistline of her jeans. Daniel tried not to stare at the little bits of exposed skin between the bottom of her T-shirt and the top of her pants.
“I must have ESP Dan because I bought a bottle of tequila today just incase there’s a party,” Nat called from the kitchen. Dan walked into the kitchen.
“Sounds like it’s going to be a real party then,” Dan smiled. Nat turned to face Daniel and smiled. She handed him a tray with cut lemons, salt, 2 shot glasses and the tequila bottle.
“You look good,” Daniel blushed. Nat smiled from ear to ear.
“You too. Now I looked in the T.V guide and there’s a National Geographic show about the pyramids on T.V. I know you loved that stuff, so did you want to watch that or a movie? There’s some golden oldie movie on called ‘Event Horizon’ on. I haven’t seen it but my dad loved it.” Nat explained as she and Daniel made their way to the living room. Nat put the champagne and 2 glasses next to the tray she’d given Daniel. She also put a bowl of chips on the table.
“Well if you said the old me loved the pyramid stuff, let’s put on the movie. Something different for a change!” Daniel smiled, rolling up his sleeves. ‘Is it getting hot in here?’ he thought to himself.
[…. Half a bottle of tequila and 2 champagne glasses later…]
“So Danny boy, is your apartment like mine?” Nat asked, rubbing her tired eyes.
Dan and Nat sat face to face on the couch, neither of them paying attention to the movie anymore.
“It’s pretty much the same layout, but mine’s got more artifacts around the room. Jack thinks it looks like a museum,” Dan explained, his voice slurring a bit. “So tell me something funny from the future.”
Nat thought about it for a bit. “Well, when I was 18, I was at a party with some high school friends, celebrating the end of high school. There was this boy named Aaron. We were both completely drunk and sitting just as we are now, on the couch, facing each other. He told me he wanted to kiss me and I said okay. So he got in real close,” Nat explained, inching forward, closer to Daniel until she was almost nose-to-nose with him.
“Then he leaned in to kiss me,” Nat whispered as she got so close to Daniel that he could feel her breath on his lips. His heart was pounding because he’d dreamt this more than one hundred times since he’d met Nat.
“Then, he passed out!” Nat laughed. Daniel didn’t laugh and Nat noticed. She also realized how close she was to Daniel. Daniel ran his right hand up Nat’s arm, resting it on her back. His other hand still rested on his leg. Nat placed her hand on his. She could feel her heart pounding. She wanted to badly to kiss Daniel, and this was the opportune moment. She looked into Daniel’s eyes and leaned in for the kiss. Her lips lightly touched Daniel’s. He slowly pulled her towards him with his hand that was on her back.
*knock knock*
Nat pulled back from the almost kiss and huffed. “I better get that,” She whispered. Both Daniel and herself felt what could only be described as utter devastation.
Nat stumbled to the door and opened it. It was Sam.
“Nat,” Sam smiled. “You left this in my car,” Sam said as she held out a shopping bag. She looked at Nat and could smell the alcohol on her. “Are you drunk?” Sam asked. Sam pushed the door open further to see Daniel sitting on the couch, rubbing the back of his head.
“Hi Sam,” Daniel said nervously. He got up off the couch. “I should get going. It’s late,” Daniel said, stumbling to the door.
“You’re both drunk!?” Sam asked, surprised. Nat explained that Daniel came over for a mini house warming party.
“Daniel, I’ll walk you to your apartment,” Sam said. She didn’t know how to react to what she’d just seen. She suspected that something must have been going on. Daniel said his goodbyes and he and Sam walked to the elevator.
“Daniel. What just happened?” Sam asked.
“We drank, we watched TV, then talked. Then you came past. That’s it. Why?” Daniel slurred. Sam huffed and helped Dan to his apartment.

[Dec 26th: I’ve returned to the dig site on P3X-486 with Sg-7 to determine whether this site really was a planet whereby Goul’d were exiled or imprisoned. There are remains of what we think is a jail of some sort. The area we are looking at today is what we think was the grave site.. It’s been a week since I nearly kissed Nat and all I can think about what would have happened is Sam hadn’t knocked at the door. Nat apologized to me the next day and said that she was drunk and sorry that she made a move on me. Wasn’t it that obvious that I had wanted this for so long? Maybe she thought that I only proceeded to kiss her because I was also drunk. I wont see her until New Years Eve, when I can come back to Earth. I find that I can’t concentrate anymore because I haven’t told Nat how I feel about her. I’ll tell her as soon as I get back.]
