Now see, this is where there becomes a question that nobody can answer. Does the machine transport the original object and put the clone in it's place or does it create a clone which appears somewhere outside of the machine? Angier's hat, for example. We can't know that the original was transported outside and a clone put in it's place, nor can we know if the original stayed there and the clone somehow managed outside. Does that make any sense? The other option is that Angier cloned himself more than once originally and left his clones to work their magic (pardon the pun) while he went off and assumed the idenity of the nobleman. There's just too much they don't tell us there. At least that's my opinion

Yep, I completely agree. They have left us beyond confused. But look at it this way. I want to watch it again to try to figure it out and I'll keep watching it to try to figure it out. So they did thier job in getting fans to watch it over and over again. It's almost like an obsession. I keep find myself dwelling on it at the strangest times. I think I even dreamed about it last night.
The story itself is interesting but the mystery is what will keep people coming back. So yeah, I think it will be a hit among people who like movies that make them think. Not everyone I know, but some.

Yes, that's definitely true. Intrigue sells. Intrigue that asks an incredible amount of questions, but reveals just enough to make you go "Oooooh" for just a second and then "...wait....what?" for a week. That stuff just flies off the shelf.
And I know you're probably tired of hearing me talk about this, but Lost is exactly like that. With every episode you find yourself asking a ton of questions, and then at the end they give you a little bit that makes you forget your questions for a bit and then start piecing it together again. It makes no sense, I know. Actually, I think some might say 24 is like that too.
