I figured I'd start a thread for this show because...well...it's awesome. For those of you who don't know it, 24 is an Emmy-award winning series on Fox, starring Kiefer Sutherland as federal agent Jack Bauer for the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU). The show is presented in real-time, making each of the twentyfour hour-long episodes into one day's time. The show is currently in it's sixth season, airing on Fox at 9pm/8pm cst Monday nights. If you're going to provide spoilers for any of the seasons in discussion, please provide a warning.

You know, I really wasn't sure that I'd like this show, because of the political aspect to it but at great urging from Idril, and my love of Kiefer Sutherland I decided to give it ago. So I got Season 1 and started watching it and something happened and I got distracted before I could finish it. So then I got Season 2 and decided I needed to watch Season 1 all the way through again, so I did just that.
I watched both seasons within like 4 days time. I could not stop watching them. I was hooked, addicted, you name it, I loved it.
I am now in the progress of watching season 3 and am on episode three. I didn't even want to stop to eat, but I made myself.
This show is just beyond amazing.

I won't say "I told you so" again, I promise... My friend asked me if I liked this show as much as Lost and that was a tough call. The thing about Lost is that it has awesome characters - it's the perfect show for people who like to focus on people and how they react together, but it's also got a sci-fi aspect to it as well. And lots of action. Now 24, they only put focus on their main characters and it's just considered filler until the next big explosive action scene, but it still works amazingly well. They still manage to bring in new characters throughout the series that you like, which is surprising because I tend to hate new characters thrown in mid-series. You spend all your time getting to know the originals only to have them shoved aside some way and these new people brought in. But they've hit some great marks with Chloe, Curtis, Bill Buchanan, Karen Hayes and even Charles Logan. Though the last three of which have gotten on my nerves several times, the writers manage to turn them around at some point and make you really care about them. It's amazing. Anyway... my favorite character is still Jack, though Tony is absolutely awesome. Tony is sort of a lost, more incomplete version of Jack in my mind. They're very similar, but very far apart.

Well I don't know those last three characters yet, but I've had a whole season to get to know Chloe and I'm afraid she just gets on my nerves. I really liked Chase though and even Adam. They were very good characters in Season 3.

Well, Chloe will get on your nerves. She's just that kind of character, a little rough around the edges in a way. But the more you come to know her, the more of a regular cast member she seems to become and I think you'll find that she'll grow on you eventually. I've been watching Season 5, when Lynn McGill (played by Sean Astin) comes in and I just can't stand it. This guy (Lynn, not Sean) has got such a chip on his shoulder. He's a royal pain in the arse. I'm surprised you like Chase, I have to say. He wasn't my favorite, but I didn't give him a very good chance. When I watch Season 3 all the way through I'll have to be open-minded

I just like the way that Chase stuck his neck out for Jack and the poor guy did get tortured because he tried to rescue him. That has to count for something. I'm assuming he's not on future seasons since you don't really talk about him. Oh well.
Now another character I really don't like is Dwayne Palmer. He's just as slippery as Sherry was. And you know even though she deserved what she got I think I might sort of miss her. She certainly livened things up in the presidency.

Obviously you know by now what happens with Chase I'm so behind in posting on here. It's funny you say that about Sherry. I really feel the same way about her. It's not that I liked her or anything she did, but for the sort of character she was, she was definitely a good one. It's very rare on this show that I miss a dirty character, but she's probably one of the only exceptions. I liked Dina Araz, too, but obviously there wasn't a whole lot of chance for her. She still believed in what she believed in and that wasn't going to change. We were talking about female characters and I forgot about Martha Logan! So Chloe, Michelle, occasionally Audrey and Martha make up the list of female characters I've really enjoyed. I thought I liked Jamey in Season 1, but it didn't take long to figure out what she was up to. Of course, then there was Nina too, who could've been a good character...but yeah...not so much.
