Okay so tonight I went to go work on one of my stories and guess what? I can't. I use the program Microsoft Office Word 2003 and I've had it on my computer since at least October of 2006, possibly longer. But anyway, whenever I try to type anything, a message in the bottom bar says "This modification is not allowed because the document is locked". Guess what else? So is almost every other freakin' ANYTHING (besides "Open", "Exit", some printing stuff, and "Properties") in the program. I can't do anything in lieu of writing. I don't think I did anything to it to make it lock the entire program.
The last time I used the program was Sunday night when I was role playing and typing something up from my notebook. A train derailed not far from my house that night, also, and the power went out (but I was asleep) so maybe that did something. But anyway, I can't figure out anything to fix it, and neither can my friend, who is one of the most computer savvy people I know.
Any idea on how I may have accidentally locked up the entire program, and/or how to fix it? Maybe I should just (find the disk first) deinstall the program and then reinstall...
Anyway, open to suggestions...

Well, my program is NOT activated because my dad has told me in the past NOT to do it for some reason. I and my friend are musing because we used the same disc to install it on different computers. Anyway, I'm gonna call him today and see if he can help me out...

I'd say that you would have to uninstall and reinstall. Somehow the files might have gotten corrupted. It happens unfortunately. I use Word 2000 though so I'm not completely sure.

That thought came up last night, but when I talked to my dad, he just said to wait it out for him to get back from a business trip and he'd fix it somehow. So I guess...until then, Hello Wordpad.

Hmm. I think it's probably the whole activation thingie Idril was talking about. You should go to fanfiction.net and download the free version of Open Office that they offer. It's better than wordpad at least. mage
