[[General Information]]
Alias or Nickname: Ark
Species: Humanoid Sand Deity infused with characteristics typical of the mammalian family Canidae.
Gender: Male
Age and Place of Birth: Of debatable and indefinite age and birthplace.
Appearance:
Face and Hair: Ark’s face has soft, calming features. His skin is relatively pale, and his visage is generally very unrevealing. His eyes are a sparkling blue which contrasts highly with his fair skin and dirty blonde hair, which is normally left in a fairly shaggy cut.
Body: Ark’s form is healthy, but lean and thin. Though he has little actual muscle definition, his strength is apparent in his dexterity. He stands at five feet six inches tall.
Cybernetics: Ark’s candid features manifest organically in the form of fox ears and a fox tail (though it has been rumored that when he lets his abilities run amuck, more quickly grow). Since such a ‘deformity’ draws unwelcome attention from those around him, he has recently disguised it with the help of the advanced technology. His ears have been replaced with highly sophisticated cybernetics. Made of highly malleable metals, they are able to perfectly mimic natural movements in response to neural messages originally intended for muscles. These ears grant him even more advanced hearing than his normal candid appendages, and are a dark brown in color (at least the current model). In the event of their destruction, Ark’s normal ears do grow back through regeneration without the suppression built into the technology. His tail is made of similar materials, but instead, it is outfitted to look more natural. Similar conditions apply to it in the event of its destruction.
Clothing: Ark’s clothing varies from situation to situation, ranging from traditional robes to sleek, futuristic stealth-ware. Usually, he wears a white robe with a hood that covers most of his face. Underneath the robe, he generally wears clothing that does not hinder movement, should he need to escape or combat a dire situation. Most commonly, he wears a pair of dark brown pants and a brown, long sleeved turtleneck shirt to conceal his elongated canines. The hue of these articles of clothing matches his natural fur color.
Family: None, traditionally speaking, but he has been known to refer to particularly close acquaintances as family.
Friends: None in recent years, and a few scattered throughout his past.
Other Allies: None. Ark is more than pleased with long periods of solitude.
Rivals: None, truly. Ark does see those who work with advanced magic and herb-lore as colleagues rather than rivals.
Enemies: Though he jokingly declared himself the arch-nemesis of disease, Ark tends to remain pleasantly uninvolved, and therefore, has few enemies in his recollection.
Love Interest: None.
Love Life: Impossibly sparse.
Likes: Peppermint, herbs, cooking, studying, reading, potion-making, magic, technology, folklore, mythology, quiet, solitude, reserved personalities, sand, and foxes.
Hates: Unnecessarily long conversations, bigots, ignorant personalities, superiority complexes, crowds, overly outgoing personalities, space, and politics.
Fears: Ark’s core fears all inevitably stem from his shyness and fear of his own abilities. His great familiarity with their destructive power both comforts and terrifies him.
Strengths: Though timid, Ark is well suited to immediately gaining control of a possibly volatile situation as well as commanding respect through prowess rather than intimidation.
Weaknesses: Ark’s abilities are based upon a deep reliance on the Earth and nature, therefore, Ark’s powers are null in the vacuum of space, and grow significantly weaker the farther from the Earth’s surface he becomes.
Other Relevant Information: Ark often states that he is a brother of the order of repentance, which is unlikely, given the order’s sudden eradication four hundred years ago. Also, he is known to possess startling intellect and cunning, worthy of his fox-like appearance.
[[Weaponry:]]
Neurotoxin: Ark normally keeps a vial of incredibly potent neurotoxin derived from the venom of desert scorpions. He also keeps a dose of antidote handy.
Anesthetic: For both intravenous and surface use, Ark’s time as a medic has taught him the value of these standard medications when addressing an ailment.
[[Other Items:]]
Communications Device: Built into his cybernetic implants, this device allows Ark to send and receive data in an expeditious manner. If signal is strong enough, he may also access the internet. Numerous security protocols and physical barriers prevent foreign access.
[[Abilities:]]
Environmental Control, Sand: Though heartily affiliated with the Earth class of elements, Ark specializes on the unrivaled control of sand and it’s components in any form. Responding to instantaneous mental commands, and matched with his startling intellect, this makes him a formidable force. His ability to quickly mend wounds with magical glass, or crush armies under immense walls of sand lends fame to his skills. He is also highly familiar with the light bending properties of his glass, and uses them to their full illusionary potential.
[[Other Abilities:]] (ie Passive Abilities)
Elemental Affinity, Earth: Ark draws strength from his proximity to the Earth’s Biosphere. The preexisting, latent energies in the natural environment are vital to his power and life force. Though the cruel vacuum of space does not provide these energies at a level where he can harvest them for power, cosmic energies do allow him to survive in a weakened and lethargic state.
Cellular Regeneration: Ark’s body maintains its youth and form through a constant, latent cellular regeneration with unknown origins. Ark’s physical make up is unique, leading to numerous attempted kidnappings by various powerhouse corporations. This regenerative ability also acts to replace necrotic tissue, and even send the healing tendencies of the body into overdrive, regenerating limbs and vital organs in terrifyingly short periods of time, but putting enormous strain on his body. Therefore, Ark has often been called ‘immortal’, though numerous loopholes undermine this description.
[[History:]]
Character Biography
Though Ark’s place of birth is unknown, he did grow up in a secluded desert community that has long since been erased from any map. The village lacked any features that would have made it remarkable, save for a prime location to capitalize on the eternally-functional salt trade. This position eventually led to war, with the first mentions of Ark being uttered by wounded soldiers returning after failed raid attempts. After years of training, Ark had been molded into an efficient killing machine, readily following the orders of village elders in order to protect its livelihood.
Over the course of many years, Ark honed his abilities to lethal perfection, prompting the village elders to declare a war on a neighboring village that so often plagued their trade caravans.
During this raid, records of Ark’s participation cease suddenly after one day of furious battle, leading to the surrender of the attacking village, and its eventual destruction. The next historical mention of Ark did not appear for hundreds of years, and happened thousands of miles away, deep in the western forests as a young healer caring for travelers and wayward soldiers as they crossed through his realm. Records of this healer ended after a failed attempt at his capture during a military sortie in his area.
Ever since, innumerable, vague rumors and records of a young medic appearing in the most dire of times have dabbled texts from all corners of the globe, but dropped off steadily a few centuries ago, leading to Ark’s disappearance from acknowledged history after being labeled as a “folk legend”.
Further supposed sightings have not been reported since.
