Rating: K or K+, I think
This is based off the Bible, but mainly the second chapter of the book of Romans. It's pretty much about a person who has been saved from God's wrath, but they are watching the Day and describing what has happened to those that are under God's wrath and why they are there. It switches from 1st person to 3rd person to 2nd person on purpose.
During the 1st and 3rd person part, the watching person is talking to the reader, but during the 2nd person part, he/she is talking to those under God's wrath. Just thought I'd make that clear so there's less confusion ;D
Oh and sorry for the unrhymingness and unflowingness in some parts. Gotta work on that. ;D (In the last two sections where it starts off as 'O man' and then the quote below, that isn't supposed to be poemish, they're just the person speaking and quoting the Bible)
Today I saw the Day of Wrath,
God's wrath revealed from heaven...
Ungodly men suppressed the Truth,
Unrighteous men had no excuse…
From beginning to end it's been so clear,
God's invisible attributes have always been here,
His eternal power and divine nature,
Clearly perceived in every creature…
Claiming Wisdom, becoming fools,
And as it is written,
'They exchanged the glory of the immortal God for mortal man and creatures.'
So the God of the Universe, the Lord of man,
Gave them up to their passions,
Gave them up to their lusts...…
And since they didn't even acknowledge their Creator,
They were filled with evil, covetousness,
Envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness…
They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent,
Haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
Foolish,
Faithless,
Heartless,
Ruthless...
And as it is written,
'Though they knew God's decree, that those who practice such things deserve to die,
They not only do them, but they give approval to those who practice them.'
On the Day of Wrath, the Day of Judgment,
You who did judge have become the Judged,…
You who practice the same that you judged
Now rightly have God's judgment
Falling on you practicers of sin...…
Do you presume on the riches of God's kindness,
Not knowing that His kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?
As it is written,
'Because of your hard hearts, you have stored up wrath for yourself on this Day, when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.'
O Man--have you not heard that, though no one is righteous, faith in Jesus Christ, who is God in flesh and who died for us sinners, and rose from the grave, is counted as righteousness? Have you not heard that God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life?
"Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin."
