I think I'd live in the 70's and 80's forever if possible. Nothing has been quite as good since the 90's rolled around. At least not for me. But hey, I'm biased.

Haha yeah, I think music is finally getting better again though. In my opinion anyway. But I adore 80's music, I mean, it's just... it's awesome! haha (Some of these were around in the 70's too, I believe) Bon Jovi, Blondie, Heart, Starship, U2! And there were soooooo many great one-hit-wonders then too. Like High Enough - D**n Yankees, I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight - Cutting Crew, I Wear My Sunglasses At Night - Corey Hart... just so many great songs! I always wish I had been a teenager then... but I'm happy being one now instead haha.

Seeing as I was a teenager then, I know exactly what you mean. I spent 95% of my free time listening to Bon Jovi, Poison, Guns'N'Roses, White Snake, and Def Leppard mostly hair bands. Recently I'm listening to more of the harder stuff though. Ac/dc, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult.
But I do find myself liking some of the popular stuff now too. I absolutely love Nickelback and Buckcherry.
I guess I should just face it. I love music period. It's such a large part of my life.

White Snake, Guns'N'Roses and De Leppard are good too! My dad likes a song by Metallica called "Nothing Else Matters" but it really depresses me... Oh my, I can't listen to Black Sabbath or Blue Oyster Cult. I find them devilish sounding... and they freak me out. haha You like Nickleback? That's awesome. They're great. I agree, music is a huge part of my life... I just can't stand going without it! ;D What else can you say? lol

Hmm, devlish sounding. Probably why I listen to them. Well really, since I've been watching Supernatural and those bands are featured on it, that's probably what got me into them, but heck the show is full of demons, monsters and angry spirits so what can you expect? Before I started watching it I wouldn't listen to that stuff either.
As far as current stuff though, there are so many new sounds that are unique and I really love them all. I've got Nickleback, Buckcherry, Daniel Powter, Simple Plan, Michelle Branch, Regina Spektor, All American Rejects, New Found Glory, Nightwish, The Pierces, No Doubt, Dido, Ryan Adams, HIM, and many many more on my iPod.
Used to be the division in styles was so clear. You had rock, rap, metal, country, classic, r & b, and a few others and that was it. Now you have pop, alternative, indie, emo, ska, hip hop, southern rock, classic rock, heavy metal, and the list goes on and on and on and on. And alot of the sounds are mixes of other sounds. Someone told me a couple of years ago that they didn't like pop, and I seriously had to ask them what the difference was between pop and rock. I was of couse still lost in the 80's at the time. They told me to think bubble gum when I thought of pop. Which I guess is a good way to look at it. But then I started looking into all the different styles and was just flaberghasted. I had missed alot apparently.
Whoa, I'm turning this into a book again. Later guys.

Well... that's probably why I don't watch Supernatural either. haha Though I've been begged by several of my friends to do so. I just can't bring myself to watch or listen to that kind of stuff. But hey, that's just me. I know, there are TOO many genres and none of them are very distinct anymore... That's part of the reason I like older music. I mean, the 70's and 80's were the prime in music in my opinion. But there's good stuff from all eras. Don't worry about the "book" length post... I'm bad about doing that too, lol. I've actually never heard Regina Spektor... I've heard of her a lot, is she good? I mean, any suggestions what I should listen to by her being a first time listener? Thanks!

Yeah, see I'm into the whole heaven and hell and demons and angels thing so Supernatural is really awesome for me. Not to mention the two really hot guys playing the leads. I liked the first two seasons better than season three and the current season though. Alot more brotherly love to drink in. Hmm, at first I didn't like Regina Spektor. Idril introduced me to her, but alot of her stuff was just weird. Then she sent me to this video for Fidelity and I adore it. I've listened to some of her other stuff too and some of it is cool, some is just strange. You just have to decide what you like and don't like.
