before the next teardrop 9.25.08
before the next teardrop falls, don’t forget to say goodbye because i’m not dead yet, you know—don’t you dare give up on me
from behind glass doors i watch you c r y yourself to sleep, one hand curled against the empty space beside you—but i’m not dead yet, amor—so don’t you dare quit on me now
wipe your gossamer eyes so you don’t spend the rest of your life drowning in regret, wishing your last vision of me weren’t quite so blurry just hold your breath and jump—if you don’t, you’ll have to fall anyway. this way at least you’re in control of your own destiny (or at least you can tell yourself that)
hold my hand, my love, and kiss the tips of my numbing fingers, just like you used to (i’ll pretend i can feel it) press my palms to your cheek so that before i go you can feel my touch one last time
rest your head against my chest so that i may feel your tears falling in time with my heartb.e.a.t.s. and sleep here tonight, sleep here tonight. don’t leave me tonight, my darling, not tonight, not just yet
before your next teardrop falls, tell me that you love me—and don’t you dare give up (too)
(goodbyegoodbyegoodbye iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou dontyoudareforgetmelove)
my dear, i’ll whisper in an ethereal hum, do not leave me until mo(u)rning (is done.)
It's inspired by the song "before the next teardop falls." Oddly enough, I've never actually heard that song. I only ever heard the title, which was enough to inspire this. Please let me know what you think of it.
