((Okiedokie, this poem, along with two haikus, got me into the poetry track of the creative writing major at University of Miami. this is an art response to one of my favorite pieces, "Edouard Manet, 1882 A Bar at Folies-Berger". Enjoy.))Enigmatic ExpressionThe woman at the bar is an enigma, A stark symbol of class in a rancorous crowd. She frowns at us, the simple gentleman, Her delicate lace rendering her inscrutable. Her light skin and bright hair Complement the light, the fruit, the whine, But her emotion does not, For she must work while we play. Her detachment is confusing, As she is dressed to be seen. Yet, she does not share our pleasure We, the gentleman, the customer At A Bar at the Folies Berger

I really, really love this. Art-inspired poetry, especially Impressionism-inspired is something I connect with a lot.
Brilliant job, love. (:
