I'm back from DayQuil land, and I agree with M, I think that's part of what I wanted to say.
Also, to the people who believe being gay is wrong: "We're all humans, get over yourselves."

o-o I love your story! I was pretty sure by the end that it was a true story too. I do agree with you; although I was a little put off after Brokeback Mountain...

Brokeback Mountain...what I watched of it was...flaming...not very good. They say they're not gay, but the next moment they're basically torches romping around the woods together...It wasn't believable either.

I just read this story and I think that it is very good.
A lot of my friends are gay or bisexual- I completely agree on all of your points. It is wrong to condemn someone because of their sexuality.
I've known, or talked with, several people that have actually been beat up because of this. I cannot tell you how angry this made me feel- to attack somebody who is different than you are...
As I said before- I agree on everybody's points...

Well I was floored yesterday. My daughters and I went into a chinese restaurant. My daughters being 3 and 9, and there were two girls sitting in a booth kissing. I honestly being used to that kind of stuff hardly even noticed it, but my 9 year old did. So I decided it was time to talk to her about homosexuality. None of this is what surprised me. What surprised me was what she already knew and the fact that even though she has heard many people including some of my family members disparaging homosexuality, she thought it was interesting and had no problem at all with it. I thought she might be squemish about the subject but it was no big deal to her and it didn't bother her at all to talk about it.
This brings me to think that maybe there is hope for our future generations. If a 9 year old girl who has been subjected to prejudice from her relatives on the subject can use her own mind enough to form her own opinion and choose to accept it as something natural in life well then the world ain't so bad after all. Needless to say I was very impressed by her maturity.

Alright, Brokeback mountain was not my favorite. I felt like it was entirely out of character, and that it brutalized the sexual side of a homosexual relationship without ever talking about the relationship. From what I understood going into the movie it was supposed to be about prejudice?-- though it only spent maybe ten minutes on that and the rest of it was about the sucky, frustrated lives of cowboys. Psh... I just didn't like it at all... Thanks to those of you who've newly read VKG, I'm incredibly glad you like this. I'm glad there are people in the world who agree with me, as I've mentioned before I live in conservative suburbia and am usually met with large frowns whenever I try to get opinions on this, your support is very heartwarming! And Meluvian, your daughter sounds very cute. I can totally see this little girl looking at you like you're nuts because you thought it was important to talk about. Hehehe.... but then again, my mother never talked about it with me, my first experience was people screaming about how horrible it was at private school. Oh, never mind, she did talk about it with me, but it was more of a, "Do not come home from college with a girlfriend" than a discussion. I think it's great you talked about it with you, even if she did think it was weird. I think there are people in the world more prone to understanding than others. There are definitely people who consider many different opinions before formulating their own; just like there are people who have been told one thing all of their lives and will steadfastly believe it until they die. I'm not sure what to do with the people who fall into the second group... I'm not sure where that was going....

Andrea, I got that same warning when I went off to college. I think I would have been better off with a girlfriend than the lowlife I dated anyway. But that is neither here nor there.
It just surprised me because she is so young and has already formed her own opinion without any guidance from me.
