Hey everybody,
My brother and I were wondering how the heck you make an animated avatar. I know it's something to do with a .bmp image, but I can't figure out how to do it. I'm not necessarily asking for a tutorial here, but just some help... It's something I've been a little confused with for over a year now but never thought to ask about.
Any help would be very much aprreciated.
Love,
mage

The only program that I've ever used is called unFreeze. It's a free program but certainly not the best one out there. With it you just take all of the pics you want in the avatar and add them to it and set your speed of rotation. Then it creates a .gif image that is animated. Here's the link where you can download it. It's a very simple program to use. Just remember to save all the images you want to insert into it as gif files first. Otherwise it rejects them. I just use photofiltre to create the seperate icons and then plop them into unFreeze. M.

Yep, that's how I do it too - though I use Corel Animation Shop which isn't free (though it comes with Paint Shop Pro) or ImageReady (which comes with Adobe Photoshop). Usually I just take the screencaptures of the scene I want to animate in Windows Movie Maker and then fix them up in PSP or Photoshop, and when I go to Animation Shop I can resize them to avatar size. Then I make the border ( an example) and cut out a portion where the original image will show through, and I paste that over each of my resized screenscaptures. It's just basically a never-ending slideshow of images.

I love the way you do that, Idril. I need to try that someday.
