The Quest
Once upon a time lived a girl, she was an ordinary girl, but she had high dreams and expectations. Unlike most girls of her age who wished to be swept off their feet by a knight in shining armour, she actually wanted to be a knight. Most people laughed at her saying. “You’re a girl you can’t be a knight, just stick to women jobs like cleaning the house and looking after geese.” This really annoyed her as she believed that if you worked hard enough you could do what ever you wanted, she was also annoyed by the positive image that knights had even though they did nothing accept rescue maidens all day. She was determined to show them all wrong and become the best knight there ever was, so this is where we start our story.

“I’m leaving this place its final.” Hazel stomped her foot, “there is I have decided no point in leaving in denial.” She picked up her peasant sack and through some food and clothes in to it. “Mother, Father I will make you proud.” She paused trying to think of a word which rhymed with proud which would be relevant. “Oh sod this, I can’t be asked.”
“I told you trying to speak in rhyme wouldn’t work.” Her father scolded her. “Where are you going to go anyway?”
“Far Far away, where I can be a knight.” She explained to her father. “Then I will bring back lots of gold so we can live in a big house.”
“Ok then of you go, I’ll see you tomorrow when you’re tired and hungry.” He laughed at her like the rest, thinking that she would easily give up. She just snorted and with here bag on her back she left with out looking back. The by the next day as her father had predicted she had eaten all her food and was now tired and hungry. She was on the verge of giving up and turning back when she saw a knight leading his horse along. A brilliant but slightly mean idea hit hazel, she would knock the knight unconscious, tie him up and steal his clothes. She hid behind a tree and waited until he was close enough before jumping out and hitting him on the head. There was a slight flaw to her plan… he was wearing a helmet.
“Erm...” he looked at her as she kept hitting his helmet with her stone. “What are you doing?” He stopped denting his helmet after realising her element of surprise had been blown.
“I... erm...” She looked around trying to think of an idea. “I thought you were a monster, take you’re metal skin off and prove you’re not.” The man took his helmet off giving her a doubtful look, with his helmet off she knocked him clean out and stole his armour before tying him to a tree.
“Men are idiots” she laughed to herself as put on his armour which coincidently fitted her perfectly. The man started to regain consciousness.
“Ow my head hat did you do that for… why am I tied to a tree… and why have you stolen my clothes…” he looked confused, but before Hazel had time to answer these questions a small fairy came long.
“That was rather mean.” Complained the fairy.
“Ahh a talking fly!” Hazel swatted at it dramatically, the poor little fairy nearly got squished before Hazel calmed down.
“Please don’t kill me I have an important quest I was going to give it to the knight but as you defeated him you might as well have it.” It sighed in relief as Hazel stopped.
“A quest!” Hazels eyes grow big, this was her dream realized.
“Yes a quest.” The fairy sighed impatiently.
“Like the ones knights do?” she beamed at the fairy.
“Yes like the ones knight do.” The fairy rolled her eyes. “All you have to do is rescue, the powerful Chris from a dungeon of an evil king. Of course there’s a dragon but I don’t see how that should stop you.”
“This is so cool.” Hazel squealed and jumped up and down.
“Dear god we’re doomed.” The knight moaned extremely unenthusiastically from his fixture to the tree. “Look little girl there’s no way you could do this…” He shut up as hazel gave him the glare of death. “I… I’m suure you will d.. do fine.” He stuttered.
“Thank you.” She put her dented helmet on and with that she was off on her quest. The journey was extremely boring, though people were friendly enough to give her lodgings and food, nothing happen. After a weeks worth of getting lost, finding her way again and then getting lost she finally found her way to the castle of the evil king. “Yeah know all I have to do is fight the dragon and save Prince Chris.” She had decided that he would be an extremely cute boy with his own kingdom and when she rescued him they would live happily ever after at his castle. They would have a girl called Fiona and a boy who would be named after his father and of course she would have a black stallion called thunder. She had had a lot of time to plan out their life together on the way to the castle.
There was a permanent rain cloud over the bleak and sinister looking castle. “Oh I’m going to get wet” she complained and started to run in to the castles court yard. “HELLO!!!” she shouted but the place was deserted. “I hope I got the right place, how embarrassing if I turned up to rescue someone and they didn’t need rescuing.” She started to look around the deserted castle for away down to the dungeons. “This is hopeless” she complained bitterly. “I’ve looked everywhere and I can’t find away down…” She leant against a tapestry which gave way and she fell through it and down a few flight of stairs landing on a large smooth cushion. “Thank goodness that someone left this cushion there or I would have been seriously hurt.” She sat up.
“That’s my tail not a cushion.” Came a growl, hazel quickly got off of the Dragons tail.
“Oh I’m so sorry.” She blushed embarrassedly. “Well thank you for saving me anyway… are you really a dragon?” she asked. “That’s so cool I’ve never seen a real dragon before.” Not waiting for it to reply. “What happened to all the people?”
“Who? Oh them. I ate them.” The dragon replied bluntly, after seeing the expression on Hazel’s face he tried to explain. “You see I was tired of people pushing me about and telling me what to do so I eat them.”
“Oh…” Hazel looked scared. “Well I’ll be rescuing the prince and getting on my way.” she started to edge her way round the dragon toward the door.
“The prince?” The dragon seamed to be very forgetful. “Ohhh you mean Chris, thank goodness I though no one would ever come.”
“Right.” Hazel gave the dragon a weird look still not trusting it to eat her and slipped through the door.
“My knight in shining armour has arrived! Yeahh.” Something small attached itself to Hazel. She looked down to see a little girl with grey ears and lots of tails.
“You’re a girl!!!!” Hazel jumped back, the tail girl cocked her head. “I must just be at the wrong castle that’s all… yeah Chris will be waiting for me somewhere else.” Hazel reassured her self.
“But I am Chris; well Chrissy is what people normally call me.” The little kid smiled sweetly as hazel twitched violently
“But... but… the castle… Fiona and Chris…. Thunder…” She rocked back and forward.
“Umm are you ok?” Chrissy asked giving hazel a concerned look. “Well as you’re not a prince I guess we can’t get married oh well but you can have the cash reward.” She gave Hazel a large bag of golden coins. “Bye now!”
“You’re not coming with me…” Hazel recovered enough to ask.
“No silly.” Chrissy said perkily. “I’m gonna wait for a real prince to come.” Hazel shrugged and went back in to the room with the dragon.
"Why are you on you're own?" the dragon growled surspisously. "Don't tell me you're leaving her here! Don't you know what i have to go through everyday! 'do this, do that'" the dragon imitated Chrissy's voice.
"why don't you just eat her then like you did to the others?" hazel suggested lightly.
The dragon's eyes light up, "what a good idea" he smiled meancingly, Hazel wasted no time in getting out of the castle and it only took 6 days to get back to her parents house.
“Mother, Father I’m home and I have money.” She entered the house to see the knight she tied up sitting at the table.
“I’ll take that for compensation for knocking me unconscious and stealing my stuff.” He took the bag of gold and stormed out.
“See Hazel no good will come of you doing bad things, we had to look after him all the time you were away, you should be thinking about you're actions.” Scolded her mother. “But I am happy you realised you life dream of being a knight.”
“I’m bored of being a knight.” Hazel stated. “It’s not what it’s cracked up to be now I want to be… a pirate princess!”
