Summary: Ed proves to Winry that he won't let himself die WinryXEd...obviously ^^;; hehe
Disclaimer: I don't own any FMA, though I wouldn't mind owning Ed...X3
“I said I was sorry, Winry,” Ed said as he looked up to see her feet dangling from the branch.
“I can’t believe you broke your automail again…I’m tempted to stop making it for you! You obviously don’t appreciate it! Just be happy I replaced it this time,” her voice cracked. Ed knew this had to do with much more than his breaking his automail.
“Will you please come down?” he pleaded.
“No.”
“Fine, I’ll come up,” Ed mumbled as he grabbed one of the lower branches and began to climb. Winry heard the rustling of the leaves and saw Ed was getting closer.
“Just go back to Central or where ever you have to be!” She yelled, throwing a twig at him.
“HEY!” he swatted it away. “Please Winry…I’m really sorry…” he went to say more, but the sob that emerged from what he could see of Winry –which was her legs- stopped him. “Winry?”
“Edward…” her voice was quiet and poignant. Ed made it up to the branch below Winry, finally able to see all of her, and how red her face was from crying.
“Yea?” He asked, pulling himself up next to her.
“Do you want to die?” the question was obviously something that had been in her mind for some time now.
“What!? Why would I want to die!?!” Ed was very taken back by it. He had no intention of dying. It didn’t follow the main health rule –Stay alive.
“For a while now, each time I see you, you’re hurt, or you need repairs…and it just seems like you don’t care…”
“No!! It’s nothing like that!” Ed waved his arms about, but stopped given that he almost fell. “There’s too much to live for,” he answered coolly. Her eyes drifted up and met with his golden ones. An affectionate smile extended on Edward’s face.
“Don’t think smiling is going to make this better,” Winry looked away; she felt her face beginning to blush. “Even though you say it…there are times when I think I’ll never get to see you again,” her shoulders quaked. She felt a warm hand glide on to her arm. She looked up again.
“You can trust that I won’t die,” he brought himself closer to her and looked her straight in the eye. “I have to stay alive for Al…” he paused for a moment, his voice a mere whisper when he spoke again. “And you.”
Winry felt her heart race, like the fluttering of a butterfly’s wings. She had never really thought that he would say that. But now that he had, she felt a true happiness growing, and warming her. Edward leaned closer; nose to nose.
“I promise to stay alive,” his tone was soothing. Winry closed her eyes just as her mouth met with Edward’s.
In that moment, Winry had never been happier. That kiss had proved to her that no matter what he may do, she would always know that Ed would come back.
