I can't help it, I always focus on the lyrics to a song. Doesn't bode well for me when listening to gangsta rap, but what can I say? This could interfere with the Name That Tune Game, but hopefully not. I like to discuss lyrics. So we'll see what happens. Some of my favorite lyrics... Everyone Will Have Their Day by ClarksvilleEverybody gets their chance to shine I know that's true And if tomorrow only brings our just deserves We'll still get through. I know we'll be alright Cue the marching drums We'll stumble through tonight Until the morning comes. And everyone will have their day Though many trying days might break Take time before you make a change Your time is gonna come your way. Everybody's got someone to be So just be true And keep your sights fixed on the road ahead And you'll get through. I know you'll be ok I'm certain you will live To fight another day Never to give in.Rise Up With Fists by Jenny Lewis with the Watson TwinsWhat are you changing? Who do you think you're changing? You can't change things, we're all stuck in our ways It's like trying to clean the ocean What do you think you can drain it? Well it was poison and dry long before you cameWe Both Go Down Together by The DecemberistsMeet me on my vast veranda, My sweet, untouched Miranda. And while the seagulls are crying, We fall but our souls are flying.Samson by Regina SpektorAnd the history books forgot about us, And the Bible didn't mention us, And the Bible didn't mention us, Not even once. You are my sweetest downfall, I loved you first, I loved you first. Beneath the stars came falling on our hats. But they're just old light, they're just old light.Chicago by Sufjan StevensI drove to New York In the van, with my friend We slept in parking lots I don't mind, I don't mind I was in love with the place In my mind, in my mind I made a lot of mistakes In my mind, in my mind The District Sleeps Alone Tonight by The Postal ServiceI'll wear my badge... a vinyl sticker with bigh block letters Adheres to my chest Tells your new friends Iam a visitory here, I am not permanent. And the only thing keeping me dry is Where I amWhat are some of your favorite lyrics?

Well since you asked for it... Within You by David BowieHow you turned my world, you precious thing You starve and near exhaust me Everything I've done, I've done for you I move the stars for no one You've run so long You've run so far Your eyes can be so cruel Just as I can be so cruel Though I do believe in you Yes I do Live without the sunlight Love without your heartbeat I, I can't live within you I can't live within you I, I can't live within youAmerican Pie by Don McLeanA long, long time ago... I can still remember How that music used to make me smile. And I knew if I had my chance That I could make those people dance And, maybe, they'd be happy for a while. But February made me shiver With every paper I'd deliver. Bad news on the doorstep; I couldn't take one more step. I can't remember if I cried When I read about his widowed bride, But something touched me deep inside The day the music died. So bye-bye, Miss American pie. Drove my Chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. And tehm good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye Singin', "This'll be the day that I die. "This'll be the day that I die." Did you write the book of love, And do you have faith in God above, If the Bible tells you so? Do you believe in Rock 'n' Roll, Can music save your mortal soul, And can you teach me how to dance real slow? Well I know taht you're in love with him 'Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym. You both kicked off your shoes. Man, I dig those rhythm and blues. I was a lonely teenage brockin' buck With a pink carnation and a pickup truck, But I knew I was out of luck The day the music died. I started singin', "Bye-Bye, Miss American Pie." Drove my chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. Them good old boys were drinkin' Whiskey and Rye And singin', "This'll be the day that I die. "This'll be the day that I die." Now for ten years we've been on our own And moss grows fat on a rollin' stone, But that's not how it used to be. When the jester sang for the king and queen, In a coat he borrowed from James Dean And a voice that came from you and me, Oh, and while the king was looking down, The jester stole his thorny crown. The courtroom was adjourned; No verdict was returned. And while Lennon read a book of Marx, The quartet practiced in the park, And we sang dirges in the dar The day the music died. We wer singin, "Bye-bye, Miss American Pie." Drove my Chevy to the levee, But the levee was dray. Them good old boys were drinkin' Whiskey and Rye And singin', "This'll be the day that I die. "This'll be the day that I die." Helter skelter in a summer swelter The birds flew off with a fallout shelter, Eight miles high and falling fast. It landed foul on the grass. The players tried for a forward pass, With the jester on the sidelines in a cast. Now the half-time air was sweet perfume While the sergeants played a marching tune We all got up to dance, Oh, but we never got the chance! 'Cause the players tried to take the field; The marching band refused to yield. Do you recall what was revealed The day the music died? We started singing, "Bye-bye, Miss American Pie." Drove my Chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. Them good old boys were drinkin' Whiskey and Rye And singin', "This'll be the day that I die. "This'll be the day that I die." Oh, and there we were all in one place, A generation lost in space With no time left to start again. So come on: Jack be nimble, Jack be quick! Jack Flash sat on a candlestick Cause fire is the Devil's only friend. Oh, and as I watched him on the stage My hands were clenched in fists of rage. No Angel born in Hell Could break that Satan's spell. And as the flames climbed high into the night To light the sacrificial rite, I saw Satan laughing with delight The day the music died He was signing, "Bye-bye, Miss American Pie." Drove my Chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. Them good old boys were drinkin' Whiskey and Rye And singin', "This'll be teh day that I die. "This'll be the day that I die." I met a girl who sang the blues And I asked her for some happy news, But she just smiled and turned away. I went down to the sacred store Where I'd heard teh music years before, But the man there said the music wouldn't play. And in the streets: the children screamed, The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed. But not a word was spoken; The church bells all were broken. And the three men I admire most: The Father, Son, and teh Holy Ghost, They caught the last train for the coast The day the music died. And they were singing, "Bye-bye, Miss American Pie." Drove my Chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. And them good old boys were drinkin' Whiskey and rye Singin', "This'll be teh day that I die. "This'll be the day that I die." They were singin, "Bye-bye, Miss American Pie." Drove my Chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. Them good old boys were drinkin' Whiskey and Rye Singin', "This'll be the day that I die."There's a better version of the interperation of this song somewhere, but I couldn't find it, this is the one I did find: Understanding the lyrincs of American Pie. Youth of the Nation by P.O.D.Last day of the rest of my life I wish I would've known 'Cause I didn't kiss my mama goodbye I didn't tell her that I loved her and how much I care Or thank my pops for all the talks And all the wisdom he shared Unaware, I just did what I always do Everyday, the same routine Before I skate off to school But who knew that this day wasn't like the rest Instead of taking a test I took two to the chest Call me blind, but I didn't see it coming Everybody was runnin But I couldn't hear nothing Except gun blasts, it happened so fast I don't really know this kid Even though I sit by him in class Maybe this kid was reaching out for love Or maybe for a momen He forgot who he was Or maybe this kid just wanted to be hugged Whatever it was I know it's because Who's to blame fo rthe lives that tragedies claim No matter what you say It don't take away the pain That I feel inside, I'm tired of all the lies Don't nobody know why It's the blind leading the blind I guess taht's the way the story goes Will it ever make sense Somebody's got to know There's got to be more to life than this There's got to be more to everything I thought existsIris by Goo Goo DollsAnd I'd give up forever to touch you 'Cause I know that you feel me somehow You're the closet to Heaven that I'll ever be And I don't want to go home right now And all I can taste is this moment And all I can breathe is your life 'Cause sooner or later it's over I just don't want to miss you tonight And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am And you can't fight the tears taht ain't coming Or the moment of truth in your lies When everything seems like the movies Yeah, you bleed just to know your alive And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I amLyrics I like usually pop up under my avatar and switch from time to time. I've had "American Pie" lyrics up before, that's a song it's hard to choose one verse or two that I really like. Normally when I sit in my room and listen to music, I let it wash over me and don't pay much attention, it's usually there to keep my focus from outside sources.

lol, I was singing along with it as I read "Within You". Gorgeous friggin song. I remember Weird Al did a Star Wars parody to American Pie, I can't help but think of it when I hear the song And I have that POD song, good stuff. I don't know how I forgot this one, but: Ziggy Stardust by David BowieZiggy played for time, Jiving us that we were voodoo The kids were just crass, he was the nazz With God-given *ss. He took it all too far But boy could he play guitar Making love with his ego Ziggy sucked up into his mind Like a leper messiah When the kids had killed the man I had to break up the band.

Ah yes, lyrics. Here are some from Tobymac, a big christian rap artsist in England;
The Slam
God's in the spot you can like it or not So rip the knob off the volume when you give this a shot And raise your hands as the slam starts to thicken the plot Openin' eyes to the lies of the enemies' lot So run like the wind from the sin of your past Keep your eyes on the prize when they put you on blast It's the Christ on the cross, it's humanity's shot It's a worldwide call to everything that we're not
This is the slam, this is the one This is the slam, this is the one
This is the slam, this is the one We gonna do it like it ain't been done before This is the slam, this is the one We gonna bring it like it ain't been brung This is the slam, this is the one We gonna do it like it ain't been done before This is the slam this is the one We gonna spring you like you ain't been sprung
They came from the cities and towns all around To see the longhaired preacher from the desert get down Waist high in water, never short on words, he said Repent, the kingdom of heaven can be yours But he stopped in the middle of his words and dropped Down to his knees and said, behold the Lamb of God He's the one, the slam, don't you people understand? You're staring at the son, God's reaching out his hand
The father slammed it like Shaq For Latinos and Blacks Packin' them straps And Caucasians hooked on Ecstasy and the crack Stacked the sins of this world to his body And conquered evil and hell Then snatched the keys of death in one breath and unlocked the cell He rose on the third I'm tellin' you partner, its actual fact Just like TOBYMAC and Boney Soprano up on this track We slam dunkin' and keep it jumpin' like jumper cables And keep the crowd rowdy like Jesus tossin' them temple tables
This is the slam, this is the one We gonna do it like it ain't been done before This is the slam, this is the one We gonna bring it like it ain't been brung This is the slam, this is the one We gonna do it like it ain't been done before This is the slam this is the one We gonna spring you like you ain't been sprung

Ah, "Ziggy Stardust" that's an excellent song.
Currently I have some lyrics from "The Man Who Sold The World" by David Bowie under my avatar and in my location is "Far Above the Moon" which is a line from "Space Oddity" also by Bowie and the words under my name is the title of the song "Lady Stardust" by guess who? David Bowie.

Unfortunately, Idril, The Slam is the only song I have by Tobymac.
