Hehe, thought I'd put up a topic specifically for us country bumpkins.
M! You didn't add Toby Kieth to that list of yours! I love him! He's got such a husky voice!
I know this is enough to get me shot as a heritic or something by alot of people, but I was never a really big Dolly fan until I heard Mindy Smith sing her songs. I love Mindys voice. If you get a chance you should listen to her sing 'Jolene'.
Reba, a country goddess. The woman can do no wrong. She could probabbly punch the presidant and everyone would still be rooting for her!
Ok, well this is just to talk about Country. So anyone else have anything to say on this, speak! Haha.

Reba, a country goddess. The woman can do no wrong. She could probabbly punch the presidant and everyone would still be rooting for her! You could dip that in batter and sell it at the county fair! Er...I mean..Amen, sister! First of all, thanks for starting this thread, Wy ;D I say I'm not a giant fan of Toby Keith, but in reality I love a bunch of his songs. When he got into his "I'ma big dog and I'm gonna bark" phase, I felt like his head was getting too big, but I was still loving the music he released. "Shoulda Been a Cowboy" is my personal oldtime favorite, but all his old stuff is good. "You Ain't Much Fun Since I Quit Drinkin'", "Who's That Man", "Wish I Didn't Know Now", "He Ain't Worth Missing", "A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action". I just love his old songs. And for some reason I was particularly obsessed with "How Do You Like Me Now?" I was in love with "Beer for my Horses" with Willie Nelson. I still know all the words to that one. And songs like "Who's Your Daddy?" and "I Wanna Talk About Me" I can't help but love. "Whiskey Girl" is another good one. "I Love This Bar", "Stays in Mexico". He's just classic, really. That's a lot of Toby songs, actually. Go figure. Anyway. I love Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, George Strait, obviously Reba, Randy Travis, Wynona Judd, Trisha Yearwood, Trace Adkins, John Michael Montgomery, Ronnie Milsap, Jo Dee Messina, Garth, Dixie Chicks, Dwight Yoakam, Brooks & Dunn, Keith Urban - and of course the newer stuff like Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley (though he's not that new), Billy Currington, Taylor Swift, Sugarland and Josh Turner.... Okay, that's enough for now...

Haha! There's a list!
Carrie Underwood is great. I love her song "Cheatin'" and alot of her other ones.
I'm a big Country Ballad fan. So when Reba, or Charlie Danials Band, or Dolly (perferably Mindy) start singing, I huncher down and pump it up. Though I will tell you, with my father being a bassist in a band for some odd years (and I guess it actually opened for some good acts) I might be one of the only children in America who gets scolded for not having the music turned up high enough. (This morning I was rudly awakened by my floor vibrating as the music was playing that loudly undernieth my room.)
Of course, whenever I listen to any country Dad walks in the room, changes it to Alt Nation, pumps it up, then walks back out. Then Mom walks in, changes it back to country lowers the volume and walks out.
Any way I'm off topic I was going to ask if you had heard the song "Old Red". It's a country Ballad and I really love that song.

Haha. Well I'm right there with you, Wy. I turn the music up and my mom says, "You call that turned up?" I swear one day she had been out and I'm in my room, and I start to hear this incredibly loud bass in a car coming up the street. It gets louder and louder (I could even hear the lyrics from inside the house, I knew exactly which song it was) and lo and behold, there's my mom, pulling into the driveway. Of course, she likes some of the hiphop stuff more than the country nowadays, but she was the one that got my sister and I hooked originally. She was a big fan of the classics - Barbara Mandrell and all. I love the ballads too - and it's funny you mention Charlie Daniels Band, because this morning my sister found "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" with Charlie Daniels Band, Aaron Tippin, Travis Tritt and Johnny Cash. Go figure! I couldn't hear it very well when she played it, but she e-mailed it to me. Must give that a listen.

Well Dolly's not for everyone, Wyve. I understand that. Have you by chance seen the movie she did Straight Talk. I absolutely loved it.
And I love Toby Keith. Some of his actions I have to roll my eyes over. But he's never represented himself as something he's not, so I gotta love him for that.
We were never alowed to listen to music too loud in my house as a kid even though the radio was on from 3am till about 10pm every day. We all loved music. And if I wanted it louder I just put on the headphones and rocked out.
Let's see, how much country music do I have on this machine.
You know I probably have over 1500 country songs on this machine. Everything from Alan Jackson to Van Zant. You name someone I probably have at least one of their songs.
I do have Ol' Red on here. Blake Shelton. I loved that song. I also like his song Austin. Very beautiful.
I have officially been to two concerts in my life both of which were country music. Ray Stevens and Garth Brooks.
There is just something about country music. It's like an old friend. You can always depend on it when you need a friend.
Anyway, I'm off to see what other trouble I can get to and yes I have my headphones on and am listening to Brad Paisley as we speak.

Brad Paisley! Which song? I've seen Billy Ray Cyrus (showing my age with that one...) and Neal McCoy in concert, I think that's about it. My mom and dad saw Garth Brooks, and they got my sister and I tee shirts. I don't think I saw anybody else. I wasn't a concert fan, really. Still not. But anyway. I need to import some of my old cds in here, I don't have them all. Who I do have: Big & Rich Billy Currington Billy Ray Cyrus Brad Paisley Brooks & Dunn Carrie Underwood Chely Wright Collin Raye Deana Carter Dierks Bentley Dixies Chicks Dolly Parton Dwight Yoakam Garth Brooks George Strait Jo Dee Messina John Anderson John Michael Montgomery Johnny Cash Josh Turner June Carter Cash Kathleen Edwards (indie) Keith Anderson Keith Urban Kenny Chesney Kenny Rogers Lee Ann Womack Little Big Town Mark Chesnutt Mark Wills Neal McCoy Neko Case (indie) Randy Travis Rascal Flatts Reba McEntire Rodney Atkins Ronnie Milsap Sawyer Brown Shania Twain Sugarland Taylor Swift Teri Clark Tim McGraw Toby Keith Trace Adkins Travis Tritt Trisha Yearwood The Wreckers Wynona Judd Obviously I have a lot of 90s country. No Blake Shelton, that's surprising. I'm actually missing quite a few favorites. No Lorrie Morgan either! Eesh! I also need to find some Ricky Nelson. Loved him
