She smiled the night skyI knew she was long gone, Probably already thinking, About how we would go. She smiled the night sky, Infinite lights in the dark, So very far away from me. I blame myself, and I always will. The new waited sullenly, Brooded in her head, While she thought of the end. My shy smile weakened, Dulled by her aversion, Her eyes saw only the floor. My fault, it always will be. It was delivered badly, By a somebody else, A friend with ties to her. The end was songbird quiet, In the recesses after dusk, The love was crying, And she was gone. * * * I dedicate that poem to my ex-girlfriend, who left me because I was too shy around her.
