I had an old piano teacher a long time ago who made me cry. She kept yelling at me because my fingers wouldn't reach. She kept saying "If you don't want to do this, then don't do it! I've had a ton of people who did get through it!" and so on. I was like, eight. I didn't know what the heck I was doing.

Now that is mean and rude. She shouldn't have gone off at you like that. Some teachers like that give the rest of us a bad name. It's just not the way you treat kids.

I'm a violin teacher, one-on-one as well as teaching in a school. I personally think that some teachers need to respect the power that they are given as teachers. There aren't many that abuse it but still, enough to worry parents. This is what my boss taught me and she is an awesome teacher

Yes. If you have a good, understanding teacher, you'll feel better and do better. Forcing students to do something and yelling at them ain't exactly gonna inspire them much. That's awesome that you're a teacher, wirr!
