I suppose this is a good spot for actor discussion..?
Ri and I were going OT talking about Paul, so here's a thread for charming Brit who will soon be playing Dustfinger in the upcoming adaptation of Cornelia Funke's Inkheart.
My favorite films of Paul's are Master & Commander, A Knight's Tale (of course) and Firewall. I've only seen bits and pieces of Wimbledon, but I enjoyed it for what I saw. And though I don't know how much I want to see The DaVinci Code, I did read the book and I was absolutely thrilled that Paul was to play Silas - the character is so very perfect for Paul's particular acting talents. I think he plays the sort of troubled souls incredibly well. I was looking for an Oscar nod, but hey. As I said, I never saw the movie. I also want to see A Beautiful Mind, Kiss Kiss (Bang Bang), and some of his upcoming movies (Inkheart, The Young Victoria, etc)
Anyhow. Some interesting tidbits I read on his IMDb page:
Trivia:
And some quotes I found funny:
"I wouldn't want to tumble with Harrison Ford in real life. He's a tough son of a b*tch. I threw that man through a window seven times and he landed on his head, got up, rebuilt the window with the crew and then got thrown through it again. I hit that man in the stomach and he said, 'Could you just land it a bit harder so I could feel it?' So I landed it a bit harder and he wanted a bit more so he could react to it. Finally, I just wound one up and let loose on him and he said, 'That's it!' It was the most humiliating day of my life."
"I'm English, so I can't wear a baseball cap. I'd look like white trash, like I should have a beer and a dog called Skeeter."

Trivia:
- Paul developed laryngitis after filming A Knight's Tale because of all the yelling he had to do as Geoffrey Chaucer.
- He plays guitar, and used to busk on Westminster Bridge.
- He named his son after actor Stellan SkarsgÄrd who acted with him in Kiss Kiss (Bang Bang) and Dogville [Stellan is also known for his role as Prof. Gerald Lambeau in Good Will Hunting, and lately as Bootstrap Bill Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and At World's End]
- His "acting heroes" are Humphrey Bogart, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Peter O'Toole and Vincent Cassel.
- He dated Laura Fraser, his co-star from A Knight's Tale (who played the female blacksmith Kate); he is now married to actress Jennifer Connelly.
- Lists his favourite foods as cheese and broccoli; and his favourite drink is whisky.
- He had to wear a wig for The Da Vinci Code because when they bleached his hair the bleach burned bleeding holes in his head.
- Gave up smoking in 2005 after seeing his 2 year-old son, Stellan, imitating him with a pen.
