[glow=red,2,300]Rated: Teen [/glow]
Summary: What kind of kid has the thought of death in the back of his mind on a daily basis? Jared and his group of friends are your mostly average 21st century teenagers who have gone through life and learned the hard way how fragile life really is. The thought of death seemed to haunt them at times, but all of these thoughts led to something bigger: the questions. Purpose, meaning, the existence of God or a higher power, the origin of life--everyone asks them. It's all part of life--something that, at times, you would like to think is just an illusion. But nope, life is no illusion. It's far too real. See how these teens delt with a big heaping scoop of reality to go with their hurts and pains.
Note #1: Just so you know, my intentions for this story was to make it sound as realistic as possible. Do you think I succeeded?
Note #2: This story is completed, and I have edited it about three times. I'm getting a couple other people to edit/critique it (and hope to get my english teachers to critique it) but, as of now, I've had no feedback. So if you find an error or typo, I'd appreciate if it you let me know. Also I'd love to hear any questions/comments/concerns.
Note #3: I'm looking for someone who is skilled in graphic designing who can possibly make a cover for this story? If you can and want to please PM me! Thanks!
And now for the disclaimer: I've mentioned the Halo games and a song called 'Requiem for a Dream' (not sure who it's by). I've also quoted a popular speaker and a website, but didn't mention the name or URL. Hopefully that'll be no problem. Last...I've stated the name of a book and its author but again, hopefully that'll be no problem. That's all I remember at the moment, so if you notice anything that could be a problem, just tell me.
By the way, how do you put tabs in the paragraphs? It's kinda hard to read with no tabs...
Thanks and enjoy!

It was dark, the door was locked, and I was drowning in my tears. Why, you ask? Simple; my life had been completely destroyed, like a glass object shattered into a million pieces. Glass is so fragile so is life. I'm going to tell you the story of how my life broke like glass.
Everything started falling apart when I was a baby--barely a month old. Obviously I was too young to remember, but I heard that Dad got fired from his job, left without telling Mom, came back a couple days later, and got in a huge fight with her. After much yelling and violence, Mom soon left, but didn't take me with her. So I was left with Dad, and since he was now jobless and wifeless, he was in no shape to raise a child. So, he handed me over to his brother and sister-in-law, who lived about an hour from his house.
My aunt and uncle were glad to take me in. Before they took me in, they had adopted another child named Isaac, who is currently wheelchair bound. Actually what happened was Isaac's birth mother didn't want him, so she was going to get an abortion, unfortunately, but the doctor made a mistake and only cut off his right leg. So, his birth mom ended up having Isaac, and then she put him up for adoption. It still angers me about what happened, but I'm glad she put him up for adoption. Isaac is the best. Life would be so pointless without him.
So anyways, my aunt, Aunt Susie, being the compassionate woman that she is, adopted him. That was a year before I was born. This is where I came in; their new baby, Jared Matthew Blake. I've been living with them ever since.
Life had been pretty interesting there. I grew up with a group of friends in the neighborhood who were about my age. There was Angie, a year younger than me, Aaron, a week older, Freddy, a year older, and Monica, two years older than me. Then of course there was also my cousin--more like brother--Isaac. All six of us were a pretty close knit group.
There's one other thing I should mention before I dive into the adventures of me. My Dad, after finding a job at an Art Works store near his house, occasionally came to visit me, or sometimes I would go visit him. We were also able to talk all the time either by phone or E-mail. I'm really glad we did that. I don't know what life would have been like without Dad.
