Well I disagree with this "Happy Holidays vs. Merry Chirstmas" "debate" completely. We should, in America, say Felize Naveda (or however it is spelt), and get it over with, after all it's been estimated that the Hispanic community, which predominatly Catholic/Christian, has the most buying power, in America, this holiday season.
And why don't we all go with "majority rules" after all it's proven that Christianity is the largest religion in the world with the most followers. Why don't the Athesist let people worship god and ignore it in the American Pledge of Allegiance (After all it's three religions...same god as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam...against one). Why can't the predominatly Christian community go to stores that say Merry Christmas and the Jews just accept the fact that many choose to worship Jesus as the masiah? Why can't the Islams fast in peace while the rest of us pig out on ham or turkey or whatever with large banners proclaiming which holiday we are recognizing? Why can we have Santa Clause in a "holiday" parade and not say it's Chirstmas? HELLO! WAKE UP PEOPLE! THIS ISN'T A BIG DEAL, IT'S JUST THE CHRISTIANS AND OTHER WINTER HOLIDAY CELEBRATORS WANT TO SAY THE NAME OF THEIR HOLIDAY INSTEAD OF SOME WISHY WASHY GENERIC B*LLSH*T!

You found another word, Animon! I think you find the most words up here. I got 16 of 20 questions right on that survey thing....I missed one geography question, the Argentina one, the El nino ocean temperature dropping question, I figured that Hinduism was the biggest religion (but that's cool that it's Christianity), and one more I can't remember....but yeah, I feel like I know a good bit for someone my age about what goes on. I mean, I've never heard of the El Nino thing...I"ve heard of Global Warming, though. One of my questions about the holiday season is why do people say "Happy" Christmas? It just doesn't sound right, ne? "Merry" Christmas sounds better to me...but that isn't a big controversial thing, huh? But I would rather say Merry Christmas, call it a holiday to celebrate Jesus' birth, and spend time with family contentededly. I mean, that's where Christmas came from! If you look at the root word for it, it's "Christ"mas! When people say "X-Mas," it irks me horribly. THey're trying to take Christ out of Christmas and that's just not right. I mean, hello, if Jesus hadn't been born, then this world would be in a much more horrible state (if that's even possible) than it is now. The world was in such a crapped up state back then that God had to send His Son to save us all! And looky out your window now: isn't the world pretty much as crapped up as before? If it isn't, what bubble are you living in? I thought The Bubble Company went out of business when 4th graders started talking about s*x and my sister's acrobatics class started talking about French kissing. Btw, my sister isn't even 10. *taps foot, tosses her soap box to Al, catches Animon's quarter, and then flips it back to her* I think I'm done....for now. Oh, just for the record, I don't believe in Santa.

The one I missed on the test was the first one, I overestimated the population of the United States, but I better know what El Nino is, I plan to go to UCLA or Washington State to study atmospheric science. Well when one uses X-Mas if they say Merry X-Mas they are still supporting Christ as the "Merry" in "Merry Christmas" is actually an allusion to the Virgin Mary. And Holiday is another one, the root of the word Holiday is "Holi" which is just another spelling of Holy so you are saying Happy Holy Day, still Christian (though is more multi-denominational than the traditional Christmas). The one that really gets me is "Seasons Greetings," that's just rubs me the wrong way...if I get a card this year I hope no one sends me a Seasons Greetings card. And I like bubbles...they so pretty and make good decoration. Did you know most people see me as an Athetist? I'm just love playing Devil's Advocate with people, maybe that's why it's my favorite movie.

I could not think, for the life of me, where in the heck you had gotten "bubbles" until I was scanning the other posts. *blinks* Have you ingested much sugar lately? I also missed the world population one, that was the fourth one. ;D Not in a ranty mood tonight, really....I found out yesterday that one of my best friends is gonna be a father in July. Great, happy for him, but he's going to be just barely 20 when the baby is born. And he isn't married yet, either, though he's proposed to the girl. So yeah, I'm kinda still digesting that one. He's supposed to call me sometime because he called me yesterday. Phone tag.

I got the world population one right, just not the US population one.
Actually I didn't injest a lot of sugar, I was just looking at pictures from a parade I went to, one of the floats had a bubble machine on it and I had taken a picture of it.
Well congrats to your friend and hopefully he'll have a wonderful life with his future wife and child.

I talked to Garion today; he is really excited about it. I talked to his ex last night, and she was the first to know. Seriously, he didn't even tell his parents. But yeah, Garion and Em were talking about it and she said some of the things they discussed were about whether Garion and his fiance should keep the baby, abort him/her, or keep the baby and put him/her up for adoption. But, they have decided to keep the baby, which is good. Then Em and I both agreed that we were proud of him for not running away from it. A lot of guys hear the "I'm pregnant" phrase and hightail it outta there. So, yeah, Garion gets points for being a man and staying there. 'Cuz it would suck if he just like, dropped his fiance or something.
Anyway.
I'm just slightly disappointed in him for not taking better care of it all...I mean, it's great that he's gonna be a dad; a little weird, but I'm happy for him. It's just, refer back to the first couple posts of this thread for the entire thought process I have on premarital s*x. I don't approve of it, at least for myself and whoever I end up marrying, if I end up marrying someone. But, I can't control other people's lives so all I can do is suggest and encourage. Well, Garion doesn't have a set "religion," so he abides by his own rules, basically. So, yeah, even though his family is Christian, he more or less abandoned his walk with Christ (at least, I'm pretty sure he had become a Christian at one point in his life) and did his own thing. Thus, ending up with a child. SO yeah, I'm thinking that he's mature for not running away, but then there's that initial disappointment of "Hey, you're 19, you were raised right, but you make your own choices in life. I was just kind of hoping that you would have been able to make at least a better decision about s*x and when the time was right."
But yeah, I"ll shut up now. I'm still trying to vent. It's a lot of mixed emotions because I had a serious crush on the guy at one point in time of my life.
