Hello and welcome to Novice Writers. There are a few rules that we need to go over before we can start.
These rules may be modified at anytime. Please check back for updates.
I wish to state that I will be implementing a warning system. Each of the offenses below are assigned a number of warnings they are worth. Here is how the warning system breaks down.
Five warnings: Five day suspension
Ten warnings: Two week suspension
Fifteen warnings: One Month Suspension.
Twenty warnings: Account deleted and Ip address banned.
1. Only stories, poetry and reviews are allowed to be posted under the Fanfiction and Original Works Categories. If you wish to start a discussion please use one of the other categories set up for that purpose. No warning. Posts will be deleted or moved.
2. You must be a registered user to post fiction or poetry. Anonymous reviews are allowed. And review responses are allowed. Anonymous posts are allowed in all other categories.
3. Please post stories and poetry in the proper categories. If a work is found posted to the wrong category it will be moved by the admin.
4. No spamming alowed. Spammed posts will be deleted. You may put an advertisement with links in your signature if you wish or in your extended profile. 20 warnings. Automatic deletion of account and/or Ip banned.
5. No harrasement or abuse is allowed on this site. You can post constructive critisism in your reviews. But if any person is found harrasing or being abusive to another member they will be banned from the site. 20 warnings. Automatic deletion of account and/or Ip banned.
6. Please post a disclaimer with all fan-fiction stating who the original creator is. This is a requirement. If there is not a disclaimer attached a mod will request that you do so. If you ignore the request you will recieve 1 warning.
7. It is not required but it is nice to include a summary with each story you post. And please include in your summary whether your story is Mary Sue, Romance, Main character/Original Character pairing, Slash. All of these story types are allowed, but it helps a reader decide whether to continue with your story or not.
8. Whether you post a summary or not with your fic it is required to post a rating for each story at the begginning of the first chapter. It is up to the reader to determine whether the story is above their age level. If there is not a rating attached a mod will request that you do so. If you ignore the request you will recieve 1 warning.
9. No stories considered to be obscene, or pornographic will be allowed on this site. Any posts found violating these terms will be removed from the site. 5 warnings.
10. Please place author notes at the beginning or end of each chapter, not throughout the chapter. Author's notes inside the story will be deleted.
11. You may respond to each individual review, by using the quote feature, or you may place review responses before or after your chapter.
12. These Authors have expressed their wishes not to have any fan-fiction created around their works. And we at Novice Writer’s respect their wishes. No stories will be accepted concerning these author’s works.

13. I realize the fact that some stories contain a certain amount of foul language, unfortunately the kind people who are hosting this forum do not allow cussing. Do to this fact you will notice that certain words will have *s replacing the vowels. I realize that most people will be able to figure out what these words are, but to be respectful to my hosts the *s still are nessecary.
14. To post more than one chapter to a story you must reply to the original chapter. Please do not make a new thread for each chapter. Doing so makes it difficult for other members to find your entire story.
15. I thought this one was obvious but I guess not. Do not name your story the same as the original work. It must have an original title made by yourself. It can be rather confusing for readers to see something titled the same as an original work. Now you may use the words My Version of ______________ and then use a title of an already published work. That is acceptable.
16. Members are allowed to have more than one account. I understand that some people wish to use alternate pen names or personas for different types of stories. So this will be allowed. But as a warning for anyone who believes that it will be easy to break rules just by creating several accounts I will warn you, for every post that is made your ip address is recorded, and if I have to delete or suspend a member I will cross reference these ips to verify that you do not have more than one account and I do have the power to completely ban ips from the site.
17. Only one author per account. If you wish to post a story with another person as a co-author you are required to each have an account or one of you can post the entire story and give credit to the other in the first chapter. This is only fair to all members. If one member breaks a rule I don't want to punish anyone else who might also be using the account.
18. Signatures are to be no bigger than 700x250 pixels large. You must take into consideration both picture and word size in your signature. If you have a picture that is 500X250 you will not be able to add any words. If anyone needs help in shrinking a picture please contact either me, Anime Monster or ladyidril. Any of us would be happy to do so for you. If a signature is found to be too large a warning will be issued. If you do not comply to the warning within a respectable amount of time your signature will be deleted. 1 warning.
19. Allright even though this is not the RP site there are a few of us who do RP here so this rule needed to be made. If you are participating in a RP understand that the other members may not have the time or the mental energy it takes to post as often as you do. So if someone is lagging in posts please as them once if they are planning to post. If they say no for whatever reason accept the fact and do not ask them again for at least 24 hours. This is just common curtousy. No one likes to be badgered into posting. If your heart is not in it, your post will not be up to normal standards. 1 warning. Modified rule. Do not post a request in any thread asking for anyone to post in a specific Rp. That is considered badgering and will not be tolerated. As far as I'm concerned it is worse than asking one person in specific.
20. All accounts not activated within 30 days of signup are subject to deletion.
21. Okay this is more of a non rule and a rule combined if that makes any sense. I was asked by a member about double posting. Please do not double post in one of your stories, poetry or art review threads to bump them to the top. Now as far as the rest of the site goes I honestly don't mind double posting as long as the post contains something of value. I do not want to see five consecutive posts from someone saying, "lol, haha, yeah right, etc. etc." But if you have something important to say go ahead and say it. The reason I say this is because I know that some members have problems modifying thier posts due to thier browsers. So they have no choice but to double post.
22. Going along with the last rule. If you have nothing important to say please do not post a one or two word post, such as "lol", "okay", "haha" or just a smiley. I know it looks nice to see your post count rise but I promise you it will go up on it's own if you just look around and find something you really want to comment on. The post count is not a contest. It's just a neat little feature we have.
23. All text art needs to be restricted to either your signature (500x250) or in the Text Art board.
These rules may be modified at anytime. Please check back for updates.
