I agree with you on Da Vinci Code, Neb. It was so ridiculous how people turned it into such a huge controversy when it was just fiction. I mean, the rituals were real, but all of the stories about the Last Supper painting and Mona Lisa, etc. I found them all to be like very interesting quirks that Brown turned into a sort of puzzle. To me, it was almost fantastical; I was so very far from even considering its authenticity, that I never bothered to be bothered by it. It was like, for a horrible comparison here, creating a story for each of the unique Waldo-looking people in the Where's Waldo books. I think my mom read Secret Life of Bees, but I never took much interest in it. It'll be interesting to see Alicia Keys acting. Has she done anything else before?

So I rented Da Vinci Code. I'll probably watch it late, late tonight....when I should be sleeping but who needs sleep?

Oooh gosh, I must be crazy, but late-late at night would be the last time I'd watch that movie I'm just so much more easily frightened at night. Even the unrealistic movies scare me. Anyways, let me know what you think of it, Ri. I love Tom Hanks, but he was sort of the last person I would've thought of to play Langdon. When reading the book, I got a vision of Bill Pullman so now I can't really see anybody else in the role. But Bill already did something similar, in a miniseries I think, so he was probably not a good choice.

Dude, Da Vinci Code is insanely creepy. I'm still watching it with my mom; people keep calling us. *sigh* But anyway. Paul is like...the uber-psycho monk, his contacts are out the wazzoo...Tom Hanks is good, though.
Movie's back on.

Hehe. Yeah, creepy is definitely the right word. I wonder if they focus more on the action/politics in the movie, if you still get to see all the interesting little "clues" and the symbolism. Like, for example, that bit about the background in the Mona Lisa, how the right side is closer in view, and the left side looks further away? Something like that. Langdon says it's symbolism, Da Vinci was acknowledging femininity or something... I don't quite remember. I just thought it was really cool, and I wondered why Da Vinci really painted it that way. ;D
I wonder if they're going to make any other Langdon books into films? I started Angels & Demons but I felt like some of the 'new' characters were so repetitive of Da Vinci Code. *shrugs*
