Lore fell heavily onto his bed once he'd reached his vine-suspended abode, happy to have a day behind him and a night of rest waiting for him momentarily. As usual, however, he ended up lying awake far longer than he had wished, music dancing temptingly in his mind as his fingers drummed on the soft, sun-bleaches canvas wall. He was reasonably sure that a good bit of the other Elves would lie awake tonight; the forest did little to disguise the rancorous din of the gypsy camp.
Perhaps Lore should have refrained from presenting alcohol as a welcoming gift.
His mind momentarily flickered to the girl who was clearly not like the others, prompting him chuckle and close his eyes. She'd probably have provided a good story.

"If I had known it was going to be this hard...," Megan groaned softly as the whispered words left her lips.
She had spent most of the darkest hours of the night and early morning dodging around the archers stationed in the woods. The loud music from the gypsy clan had went far towards hiding some of the noise she made but it also made it more difficult to hear any of the noises that her worthy opponents might make.
And now that she was to the elven camp most of it's occupents were asleep. The sounds of calm even breaths and relaxed heartbeats met her ears assuring her that most certainly were down for the night. A few elevated heart sounds met her ears and the tents they resided in she skipped, knowing she could not risk getting caught. But those that held sleeping occupents she peered through cracks to see if her enhanced eyesight could find anything of interest and better yet, those that held no occupants she could search with ease.
It wasn't the easiest of ways to search a village, but at the moment it was the best she could hope for.

The slightest rustle of leaves somewhere below his tent was enough to rouse Lore from his light sleep quickly, his hand gently gripping the handle of his ritual club.
One would think that such a small disturbance would be of little consequence in the forest, but elvish encampments were very predictable in their activity, and animals tended to avoid the highly-populated areas. The small rustle wouldn't have normally awoken just any elf, but Lore's special connection to the nature of sound itself made him more keenly aware of the subtle nuance between the proud footfalls of an elf and the carefully chosen steps of an intruder.
Of course, it could just be some kids playing games, so Lore refrained from casting any spells, opting instead to move with the practiced grace and silence of a well versed elven youth. He moved the flap of his tent with his free hand and peered down to the forest floor, catching a glimpse of silver hair.
He cleared his throat politely before speaking "You are far from your tent, gypsy. It would be wise to head in the opposite direction."

She froze at the words and had to hold back a groan. How had he heard her? No one ever heard her when she was in full stealth mode.
She glanced up at the open tent flap and tuned in her hearing to the being above her. His heart beat was only slightly elevated, so she knew he was calm, and probably not likely to strike, if she came up with a convincing enough reason for being there.
"Pardon, my intrusion. I could not sleep and decided a walk through the forest might calm my nerves. It was not my intention to disturb any of your folk." The words were spoken with just enough chagrin to hopefully convince the elf or her sincerity, or at least buy her enough hesitance to allow her escape.

For an elf, Lore was indeed quite young and naive, but as compared to an average human he had a respectable amount of life experience. It was this experience with people that prompted the polite sigh that escaped his lips.
"Young lady, you may have been very easy to hear, but it was quite evident that you didn't want to be heard." he stated calmly, his gold-ringed eyes catching the moonlight. "You're also very bad at lying."
"Now I assume you'd prefer to come clean to someone who won't shoot you on sight." Lore explained, swinging his legs over the edge of his tent and stretching. "So out with it."

Why did it have to be elves? If he'd have been a human she would have easily convinced him with the lie. But elves were a completely different story. Often times even the youngest of them could see through falsehoods with little effort whatsoever.
So what should she tell him? The truth would surely find her a captive within moments. But maybe a little truth, without complete disclosure...
She fixed a wry smile on her features as she made herself comfortable on the forest floor. If he could be casual about this so could she. She didn't bother averting her face as she spoke, knowing he could hear a lie as easily as read it upon her face. "The truth is, I'm rather curious as to your people and some of the items they possess. I've been looking for one item in particular for some time now, and heard rumor that it was among your people. I wanted to verify this fact for myself... without anyone knowing what I searched for," she explained casually. Let him decide for himself whether she was planning on stealing the item or bartering for it. "I would prefer that not everyone knew I was looking for this item, if you understand my meaning."

Lore chuckled politely, resting his drum in his lap and tapping on it lightly. "Well there a plenty of items kept in our vaults young lady, a great majority of which are not for sale." He stated clearly. "And given the gypsy reputation for thievery, I believe it's rather obvious what you were actually up to. It was a rather bold idea, but foolish. The vaults are heavily enchanted, and you'd be hard pressed to step inside."
"Now if you have a better plan for evading my curiosity, now would be a good time to employ it."
