So I figured this is a topic everyone has something a say about, whether you're in grade school, high school, college/trade school, or "been there, done that". After checking to see that there was no other thread (that blatantly said "SCHOOL" besides "homeschooled"), I thought I"d start one... So here you can discuss what's going on in school. Such as, have an annoying teacher and want to vent, maybe find out how to deal with said annoying teacher? Talk about it here. Have an assignment that's bothering you? Talk it out, maybe find some ideas on how to work it out. Or even just want to reminisce (or laugh at those who are still in school), feel free. Not only is this a place for new and old members to talk, it's a place for school aid. As cheesy as that sounds, bear with me. I know talking about problems in school helps a lot, especially with people who have been there and can offer you much needed advice. So I'll start off with a little introduction about myself. I'm Ri (as a lot of you know already), and I'm in a trade school type thing for massage therapy. Recently, I was nominated and accepted as a student ambassador for near perfect attendance (so I've missed one day...) and outstanding grades, placing me in the top five percent of my entire school. Yes, that makes me elite, but I'm not snotty about it. I just get to wear red scrubs and have a bigger say in inner workings of the school. My program is a nine-month program separated into nine different modules in which we learn different areas of massage therapy and body systems, functions, workings, all that good stuff. I'm about to enter my third month. Prior, I was homeschooled. My biggest issue with my school right now is the fact that some classes have musical teachers from mod to mod. But as an ambassador, I'm not supposed to complain and complain, I'm supposed to look at the problem and say "What can I do to fix it?" So I guess that segways and ends my not-so-little spiel that if any of you want to shoot the breeze about school, I'll help you as practice for mine. Make sense? And now that I've rambled on and on, let the talking begin (or maybe not).

Hey!
Alright, I'm a sophomore in high school, and currently just finished with hell week. Not even joking.
On Monday, I sang the national anthem over the school speakers with the center of my school choir, the Madrigals, and then sang at this veteran's day breakfast thingie. Then I had to go to Theater and perform a monologue that lasted for about two minutes.
Then, I had to do a bunch of researching for a Shakespeare Project that required an oral presentation, a report, and a performed scene of the play.
I had a vocab quiz in Spanish on Tuesday, which I aced, (101 YES!), and Wednesday was okay. Thursday I had to make up this huge test thing in Spanish, (which I don't think I did good on. There was this big part that was a 'you had to be there' thing).
Also, that night I was typing away like a madman over my report, making sure that it was done right, (and it still wasn't darn it).
Friday, I had to do a group oral presentation and turn in our report, (the d**n presentation took a good fifteen minutes for some God-awful reason), and then took ANOTHER huge test in Spanish.
Oh! And I had a quiz in Choir that I screwed up on. Not such a good week.
But things are looking up! Now I'm on a nine day break for Thanksgiving, with absolutely NO homework. Yay for lazy teachers lol.
I think that pretty much covers it... Oh yeah, I absolutely love my Theater teacher. She's funny as hell. That's it.

Well, glad to hear your week from hell is over, Neb. Hopefully you'll enjoy what sounds to be an awesome break.
In my nick of the woods, I'm about to start my third module today with my rockstar-looking instructor, awesome man that he is. It's pretty much what we learned last mod with a different name, so I have no doubt in my mind the class will do well.
I think today I get my red scrub set as an ambassador, woot, as well as attend my first meeting. Excitement.
In lieu of Thanksgiving breaks, the afternoon and evening classes have Wednesday and, of course, Thursday off, but since I'm morning class, we still have to attend on Wednesday. Though my instructor said we'll leave early. I might be having my Thanksgiving on Tuesday or Wednesday, though, depending on work. But after Thursday, the last day of class for the week for morning people, we have the usual days off until Monday.
Exciting.

Well I'm in the category of the 'been there, done thats' and I guess that means that I'm the one that gets to give advice from my wealth of experience. *snorts derisively* Yeah, me, experience. I hid my head in the sand in school for the most part.
Okay then, Ri, you were put in the position you are in as being one of the Ambassadors so that you can make a difference and if you see a problem with how things are being run then step up and talk to the person who is in charge. Don't go in there like a complaining student but instead go in like a fellow human being that would like to discuss their concerns. And it wouldn't hurt to get the other Ambassadors (I forgot how many you said there were) to go with you. Make it seem like you all have a concern about the situation. Maybe you'll be told that it can't be fixed but then again maybe it can. But you will be respected more if you try.
neb, sounds to me like you did have a rough week. I certainly like the classes you are taking though. Drama, theatre and language arts were my big things in school. I never got to be on stage though and I regret that. I was told that my voice wasn't strong enough to carry. Which at the time was very true. I was just too shy to speak up. So I ended up in the make-up department for all the plays.
I was on local tv once though because of that. To my humiliation my drama teacher agreed to tape a instructional video on how to make fake beards for the musical Fiddler on the Roof and I got picked as the person who made and applied the beard. You want to talk about nervous. It was just me and this guy I knew on stage and I had to do all the talking, explaining what I was doing and why. But once it got to the point where I had to apply the beard the guy started making funny faces at me to try to get me to loosen up. I had been friends with that guy since grade school and I swear I could have killed him for doing that. I couldn't laugh because there were no retakes. If I messed up we had to start all over. I'm just glad that it was only on local tv. Even though they did pipe it through all the classrooms when it aired. I was so embarrased that I spent the entire day with my head on my desk not looking at anyone while my guy friend teased me everytime I saw him in the hallways. It didn't help that I had the largest crush in the world on his best friend, who of course was with him all those times.
Okay, rambling done. See you shouldn't get me talking about my time in school. You never know what you might hear and since I got over my shyness several years ago, I'm even worse.
M.

That's exactly right, M, what we're supposed to do. Go in there as a responsible adult and be very professional about it, since even though it's school, it's still a professional environment. Though the only thing we can do right now is voice our opinion, "It's hard to learn when we're almost constantly changing teachers," but right now I'm happy with the fact that we still have Mr. E. It will probably only be until the end of this mod that we just started, but take what you can get. But I know what you mean. We had what is my and the other two ambassadors' first meeting today. It was okay; we just talked over "Okay we're doing this now, we're going to be doing this next, and here's some information about this." School events and the like. In class, it was the first day of a new mod, so we had new people just entering their second mod, woohoo. At first, we had too many new people, then they were moved to their correct location. Then I was used for a demonstration on stretching and strengthening....PNFing is what it was called. "Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation" I'm pretty sure is what it stood for. Pretty cool, huh? But my instructor stretched my iliopsoas, the muscle that's on your hip in the front. Then we did some active assisted resistance stretching, which was pretty much, he pushed against my arm and I resisted it. Tada. Hey Neb, my mom and I taught a drama class together, and man was it dramatic! Freshmen don't take kindly to listening to juniors I guess, whether or not they have the "Assistant Teacher" title by their name. Then I've subbed a language arts class a handful of times because my teachers knew I was responsible enough to take care of kids like that. These were high school kids, and I was I think a sophomore. Anyway. So that's my school life...and M, we always enjoy your stories of school. They make me giggle so.

lol, it made me giggle too.
To be fair though, it is pretty much my fault that last week sucked so bad though... I had another chance to take that make up test for Spanish the week before, and I had gotten the report about three weeks before it was due lol. I'm still in the lazy freshman mode I guess. Unless you take evil classes, freshman year at my high school is SO easy. Then they hit you with accelerated and the block schedule starts to bite you in the butt. For those of you who don't know, the block schedule basically means that we have the equivalent of two school classes in one. In accelerated classes, that means it's FOUR days worth of material. It really sucks sometimes actually, even though I love it.
