My sister is taking ballet, too...so I will probably end up learning to play the majority of her songs when she gets into the classical music ballet. Piano is horribly fun for me. And I usually slouch when I'm doing stuff, but it's ingrained in my brain that I have to sit up straight when I play. Mostly because, about three years ago at my last recital (I haven't taken official lessons in a long time), my dad recorded me playing on a video tape and I was slouching, and my dress was kind of low cut so it looked awful. *cries* So now, it's like...I sit up straight without realizing it. My sister started ballet when she was 8. Now she's 18. haha. And she's with a dance company in Michigan as an apprentice. I took piano lessons for a few years and I taught myself a few songs on the light-up keyboard thing -wince- that I have, but then I got into horseback riding and that took over my life (until this Spring when I quit and sold my horse... long story). I'll never forget, every time I fell off a horse, my mom would say "Are you sure you don't want to go back to piano?"

I think it's neat to see guys doing dance...if more guys would realize that some girls dig that, we might see a lot more magnificent male dancers. Or, we might see a lot of crappy male dancers that are only there to pick up chicks. haha But, dance is my hobby only. I'm not the best in my class in ballet, and occasionally I have an off day in hip hop...
With my second piano teacher (first real one, methinks), I wasn't allowed to learn songs on my own, or teach myself anything. She said it was bad for me since I would disregard dynamics and fingering. But one day, my dad taught me the beginning of Fur Elise and that has fueled me from then on to now. My teacher yelled at him. ^_^ But, I'm glad he taught me that, and that he's good at picking things on his own, playing by ear. Because now, if I hear a song, I can pretty much play the melody. Occasionally, I get into it.
I remember trying to write Aeris' Theme from Final Fantasy VII down in a composition manuscript once upon a time ago because I heard and played a chord that sounded like it. But, now, if I have the music to songs I know, I can look at it, judge it, and then play through it okay.
One of my friends, who I could refer to as my mentor for piano, has been playing since he was yea-high *indicates a short height* so he's like, awesome; when he practices. He's trying to get into med school, so he's been busy lately. >n< But he told me to work on classical music. I can see that one can get far with classical music, but since I'm not majoring in music (why not, I wonder some days), I'm going to keep that passion and play in clubs and lounges in NY, once I get there, for extra cash.

The company my sister's with has quite a few male dancers (one is actually going to go to med school later on, actually). There aren't enough guys doing ballet, you know? Girls need to partner with somebody.
Fur Elise was the first song I taught myself to play, ironically. Classical music is just amazing. Ohhh lounges in NY? My favorite city (I'm sure everyone knows that I have an obsession with it).

Al, I've always wondered, when you play the bottle, does it matter how much water is in the bottle on the sound it makes? Or does the type of bottle change the sound? I've tried numerous things...just because I have a lot of free time on my hands and drink sodas from bottles occasionally...
I know someone who knows someone who can play the spoons...lol I don't get that one at all
I wanted to try the violin out, and the flute, but I didn't want to bad enough to really pursue it...so piano is my main instrument to save my life...heh
